Spatially Resolved River Monitoring by UAV-Borne 4D-Imaging Radar: Experiments and Preliminary Validation

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
There is growing research interest in monitoring river discharge using noncontact sensors that do not require direct interaction with the water and can be mounter on unmanned aerial vehiclesto reach inaccessible areas.

Observer design for position and velocity bias estimation from a single direction output [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper addresses the problem of estimating the position of an object moving in $R^n$ from direction and velocity measurements. After addressing observability issues associated with this problem, a nonlinear observer is designed so as to encompass the

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Testing measurements of airflow velocity in road tunnels

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
Within the project entitled “Models of formation and spread of fire to increase safety of road tunnels”, it was necessary to devise a method how to record airflow velocity during the fire in situ tests in road tunnels.

Investigation into the selection of viewing configurations for three-component planar Doppler velocimetry measurements. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A method for the calculation of three orthogonal velocity components in planar Doppler velocimetry (PDV) using four or more measured velocity components (to the three typically used) is presented.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.
