Modelling Wave Transmission for Transient Flow and Amplitude-Frequency Characteristics of Tubular String in a Water Injection Well

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Fluid wave code communication is used in layered water injection intelligent monitoring systems, but a model of fluid transient flow wave signal transmission is still unknown.

Generalized velocity-dependent one-scale model for current-carrying strings [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2021
We develop an analytic model to quantitatively describe the evolution of superconducting cosmic string networks. Specifically, we extend the velocity-dependent one-scale (VOS) model to incorporate arbitrary currents and charges on cosmic string worldsheets under two main assumptions, the validity of which we also discuss.

Scattering of a Long Cosmic String by a Rotating Black Hole [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The scattering of a straight, infinitely long string by a rotating black hole is considered. We assume that a string is moving with velocity v and that initially the string is parallel to the axis of rotation of the black hole.

Large-scale peculiar velocities from cosmic strings [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1987
Recent observations1–3 indicate that large regions of the Universe 60 h−1 Mpc in radius (where h is the Hubble constant in units of 100 km s−1 Mpc−1) may be streaming coherently with velocities up to 1,000 km s−1 with respect to the rest frame determined by the cosmic microwave background.

Statistics of peculiar velocities from cosmic strings [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 1995
We calculate the probability distribution of a single component of peculiar velocities due to cosmic strings, smoothed over regions with a radius of several $h^{-1}$ Mpc. The probability distribution is shown to be Gaussian to good accuracy, in agreement with the distribution of peculiar velocities deduced from the 1.9 Jy IRAS redshift survey.

Extending the velocity-dependent one-scale string evolution model [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2002
We provide a general overview of the velocity-dependent one-scale model for cosmic string evolution and discuss two further extensions to it. We introduce and justify a new ansatz for the momentum parameter $k$, and also incorporate the effect of radiation backreaction.

Weak-Field Gravity of Revolving Circular Cosmic Strings [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
A weak-field solution of Einstein's equations is constructed. It is generated by a circular cosmic string revolving in its plane about the centre of the circle.

Stick–Slip Vibration Characteristics Study of the Drill String Based on PID Controller

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
In order to address the issue of drill string stick–slip vibration, which leads to drill bit wear and reduces the drilling velocity, we conducted a study on the characteristics of stick–slip vibration using a proportional-integral-derivative (PID ...

BTZ trailing strings

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
We compute holographically the energy loss of a moving quark in various states of the D1-D5 CFT. In the dual bulk geometries, the quark is the end of a trailing string, and the profile of this string determines the drag force exerted by the medium on the
