Successful radiofrequency ablation of a right posteroseptal accessory pathway through an anomalous inferior vena cava and azygos continuation in a patient with incomplete situs inversus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We present a 43-year-old patient with paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. In the process of catheter ablation, we found interruption of the inferior vena cava with azygos continuation with incomplete situs inversus.

Functional Microendoscopy Reveals Calcium Responses of Single Cells in Tracheal Tuft Cells and Kidney Podocytes

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A cost‐effective multicore‐fiber microendoscope for biological functional imaging is presented. The instrument is thin enough to image within the mouse trachea. It is applied to record responses of tracheal tuft cells to stimulation in vivo, as well as calcium and redox signals from various organs in situ.

A man with dilated superficial abdominal veins.

open access: yesCaspian Journal of Internal Medicine, 2016
Background: The clinical presentation of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) varies tremendously depending upon the type of lymphoma and the areas of involvement. NHL can rarely present as an abdominal mass compressing the inferior vena cava.

Manipulation of Wnt/β‐Catenin Signaling by Synthetic Frizzled Agonist and LRP Antagonist in Organoid Cultures and In Vivo

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Harnessing synthetic key receptor modulators, this study presents a breakthrough in Wnt/β‐catenin regulation. The FZD agonist RRP‐pbFn bypasses LRP5/6 to drive organoid expansion and tissue regeneration, while the LRP antagonist RRP‐Dkk1c eradicates tumors. These tools enable precise pathway control, advancing regenerative and cancer therapies.

Coculture of Bifidobacterium bifidum G9‐1 With Butyrate‐Producing Bacteria Promotes Butyrate Production

open access: yesMicrobiology and Immunology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Supplementation with Bifidobacterium bifidum G9‐1 (BBG9‐1) has been established to enhance the production of butyrate, a short‐chain fatty acid (SCFA) known for its beneficial effects in alleviating constipation. We hypothesized that BBG9‐1 alters gut microbiota such that bacteria that produce butyric acid from lactate and acetate become more ...

Deducing Cardiorespiratory Motion of Cardiac Substructures Using a Novel 5D-MRI Workflow for Radiotherapy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Objective: Cardiotoxicity is a devastating complication of thoracic radiotherapy. Current radiotherapy imaging protocols are insufficient to decouple and quantify cardiac motion, limiting substructure-specific motion considerations in treatment planning.
