Deep learning‐enhanced 3D imaging unveils semaglutide impact on cardiac fibrosis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Myocardial fibrosis (MF), a hallmark of structural cardiac remodelling, drives disease progression across most forms of heart failure and plays a central role in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). Despite its clinical relevance, effective treatments remain scarce.

Mass Spectrometric Measurements of 11‐Deoxycortisol, Androstenedione and Dehydroepiandrosterone Are Superior to Cortisol to Assess Selectivity of Non‐Stimulated Adrenal Vein Sampling

open access: yesClinical Endocrinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Successful adrenal venous sampling (AVS) is traditionally assessed using the ratio of cortisol in adrenal to peripheral venous plasma to calculate the selectivity index. With mass spectrometry other steroids can be simultaneously measured that may improve numbers of apparent successful sampling procedures.

Ethanol Infusion in the Vein of Marshall for Persistent Atrial Fibrillation Ablation: Evidence From Randomized Controlled Trials

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) is the cornerstone of catheter ablation (CA) for atrial fibrillation (AF), yet outcomes remain suboptimal in persistent AF patients. Ethanol infusion in the vein of Marshal (VoM), an embryological remnant implicated in AF pathogenesis, may enhance ablation efficacy.

Visualization of Real‐Time Esophageal Location Using Intracardiac Echocardiography on a Three‐Dimensional Mapping System: Comparison of Esophageal Location Using Preoperative Computed Tomography and Investigation of Predictors for Esophageal Movement During Catheter Ablation

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
Esophageal imaging using intracardiac echocardiography (ICE‐Eso) showed a more accurate real‐time esophageal location than preoperative computed tomography (CT‐Eso). Non‐fasting on the day of catheter ablation (CA) may be a predictor of esophageal movement on the day of CA.

First Confirmed Case of Leadless Pacemaker Insertion via Bidirectional Glenn Shunt in Ebstein's Anomaly: A Novel Approach to Pacing Challenges

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Ebstein's anomaly presents unique pacing challenges due to complex anatomy and surgical history, often leading to transvenous lead complications. Case Presentation A 28‐year‐old male with Ebstein's anomaly, prior Danielson tricuspid valve repair, and bidirectional Glenn shunt presented with acute ventricular pacing loss from ...

Nomogram for Deep Vein Thrombosis Prediction Post‐Endovascular Thrombectomy in Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Retrospective Multicenter Observational Study

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Nursing, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a frequent complication following endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) in patients with acute ischaemic stroke (AIS), potentially leading to fatal pulmonary embolism (PE). Identifying patients early at high risk for DVT is clinically important.

Management of Hip Arthroplasty for Intertrochanteric Fractures Under the Treatment Concept of Periprosthetic Fractures

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, EarlyView.
Anatomical images of the front (A) and back (B); the black lines indicated the muscles. One cable in “figure‐of‐eight” and another looped over the lesser trochanter were across the muscles to maintain reduction and resist traction. ABSTRACT Objective Intertrochanteric fractures (IF) in the elderly are often complicated by osteoporosis and high rates of

Techniques for Transvenous Lead Extraction of Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices: A Network Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesPacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Transvenous lead extraction (TLE) is procedurally complex and carries significant risk. Evidence on optimal TLE techniques is limited and lacks comparative studies. Methods PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science were searched through November 27, 2024.
