How does a CIED presence influence chances and safety of haemodialysis access? Conclusions from over 3000 thoracic venografies

open access: yesClinical Physiology and Functional Imaging, Volume 43, Issue 1, Page 47-57, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Patients requiring temporal or permanent catheter or arterio‐venous fistula (AVF) for haemodialysis may be in challenging situation, if they are cardiovascular implantable electronic devices (CIED) carriers. Materials and Methods The authors analysed preoperative venogrphies of 3100 patients referred for transvenous lead extraction for a ...

Inferior vena cava filter placement in a left IVC and drainage into duplicated SVC via hemiazygous continuation

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2018
Left-sided inferior vena cava (IVC) is the second most common anatomical anomaly of the IVC. We report a drainage pattern of the left IVC into a left duplicated superior vena cava (SVC) diagnosed during IVC filter placement consultation.

Functional Microendoscopy Reveals Calcium Responses of Single Cells in Tracheal Tuft Cells and Kidney Podocytes

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A cost‐effective multicore‐fiber microendoscope for biological functional imaging is presented. The instrument is thin enough to image within the mouse trachea. It is applied to record responses of tracheal tuft cells to stimulation in vivo, as well as calcium and redox signals from various organs in situ.

Manipulation of Wnt/β‐Catenin Signaling by Synthetic Frizzled Agonist and LRP Antagonist in Organoid Cultures and In Vivo

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Harnessing synthetic key receptor modulators, this study presents a breakthrough in Wnt/β‐catenin regulation. The FZD agonist RRP‐pbFn bypasses LRP5/6 to drive organoid expansion and tissue regeneration, while the LRP antagonist RRP‐Dkk1c eradicates tumors. These tools enable precise pathway control, advancing regenerative and cancer therapies.

Primary right ventricular cardiac haemangiosarcoma with pulmonary metastases in a domestic short‐haired cat

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract A 5‐year‐old, male, neutered, domestic short‐haired cat presented for lethargy and anorexia and was diagnosed with a cardiac tumour and likely pulmonary metastases by ultrasonography and contrast computed tomography of the thorax. Clinically, the cat presented with right‐sided heart failure, pleural and pericardial effusion and ensuing ...

Resolution of a caudal mediastinal paraoesophageal empyema in a cat without surgical intervention

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract A 5‐year‐old, male, neutered European shorthair cat presented with hyporexia and acute respiratory distress of 2 weeks. Thoracic radiographs showed pleural effusion and two round masses in the dorsal thoracic cavity. Computed tomography revealed a caudal mediastinal paraoesophageal empyema, and there were no signs of a foreign body.
