Clinical Outcomes of Patients Hospitalized for Conventional Pacemaker Implantation With Protein‐Energy Malnutrition

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 1, February 2026.
Protein‐energy malnutrition (PEM) was linked to higher in‐hospital mortality, longer hospital stays, and increased complications in patients undergoing pacemaker implantation. ABSTRACT Introduction The impact of protein‐energy malnutrition (PEM) on patients hospitalized for conventional pacemaker implantation remains poorly understood.

Unexpected intraoperative hypoxaemia in a healthy dog undergoing TPLO

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract A period of hypoxaemia was unexpectedly detected in an otherwise healthy 10‐year‐old dog undergoing tibial plateau levelling osteotomy surgery. Hypoxaemia developed approximately 10 minutes after the start of surgery. Simultaneously, the plane of anaesthesia was persistently light. Lung compliance was subjectively poor.

Interspecific variation in leaf phenology and its relationship with plant traits in a seasonal tropical forest

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 40, Issue 2, Page 433-450, February 2026.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Open‐Label Randomized Controlled Study of a Disposable Dry Seal Chest Drainage System for Safety and Efficiency in Lobectomy Patients

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 3, February 2026.
The open‐label randomized controlled trial evaluated the safety and efficacy of a disposable dry seal chest drainage (DSCD) system compared with single‐bottle water‐sealed drainage (SBWSD) after lobectomy. The DSCD system showed higher postoperative oxygen saturation levels (p < 0.001), a lower incidence of DVT (p = 0.032), and a substantially reduced ...
