Relationship of venous blood gas with cervical esophagogastric anastomotic leak [PDF]

open access: yesAsian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals, 2012
Objective: this study investigated the relationship between various parameters of venous blood gas analysis of gastric fundus veins and cervical esophagogastric anastomotic leaks after transhiatal esophagectomy. Background: decreased tissue perfusion is one of the causes of anastomotic leak.

Central Venous Blood Gas Analysis: An Alternative to Arterial Blood Gas Analysis for pH, PCO2, Bicarbonate, Sodium, Potassium and Chloride in the Intensive Care Unit Patients. [PDF]

open access: yesIndian J Crit Care Med, 2019
Aims Arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis is a frequently ordered test in intensive care unit (ICU) and can analyze electrolyte in addition to pH and blood gases.

Reducing pain by using venous blood gas instead of arterial blood gas (VEINART): a multicentre randomised controlled trial [PDF]

open access: yesEmergency Medicine Journal, 2020
IntroductionVenous sampling for blood gas analysis has been suggested as an alternative to arterial sampling in order to reduce pain. The main objective was to compare pain induced by venous and arterial sampling and to assess whether the type of sampling would affect clinical management or not.MethodsWe performed an open-label randomised multicentre ...

Capillary and venous lactate measurements with a handheld device compared to venous blood-gas analysis for emergency patients. [PDF]

open access: yesScand J Trauma Resusc Emerg Med, 2018
Background/aimEarly identification of lactate levels may have a large impact on triage classification and assist in identifying critically ill patients. A handheld device provides a rapid and timesaving measurement of lactate levels adapted to work in a ...

Arterial vs venous blood gas differences during hemorrhagic shock

open access: yesWorld Journal of Critical Care Medicine, 2014
To characterize differences of arterial (ABG) and venous (VBG) blood gas analysis in a rabbit model of hemorrhagic shock.Following baseline arterial and venous blood gas analysis, fifty anesthetized, ventilated New Zealand white rabbits were hemorrhaged to and maintained at a mean arterial pressure of 40 mmHg until a state of shock was obtained, as ...

Correlation of central venous pressure with venous blood gas analysis parameters; a diagnostic study. [PDF]

open access: yesTurk J Emerg Med, 2017
This study was conducted to assess the correlation between central venous pressure (CVP) and venous blood gas (VBG) analysis parameters, to facilitate management of severe sepsis and septic shock in emergency department. This diagnostic study was conducted from January 2014 until June 2015 in three major educational medical centers, Tehran, Iran.

Can venous blood gas values be used instead of arterial blood gas values in respiratory alkalosis?

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Biochemistry, 2014
Objective: The increase in alveolar ventilation causes disposal of large amounts of carbon dioxide from the respiratory system resulting in hypocapnia and respiratory alkalosis. Hypocapnia reduces cerebral blood flow, alkalosis leads to a leftward shift in oxygen- hemoglobin dissociation curve causing reduced oxygen delivery to tissues.

Serial blood gas analysis during fluid resuscitation of hypovolemic dogs [PDF]

open access: yesThe Iranian Journal of Veterinary Science and Technology, 2022
It has been documented that hemodynamic disturbances occur in hypovolemic patients. Therefore, the early management of hypovolemia is essential to achieve optimal outcomes. Blood gas, which changes rapidly during hemodynamic instability, can be used as a
