Neurologic deficits with isolated cortical venous congestion
Isolated cortical vein thrombosis (ICVT) without sinus involvement occurs rarely.1 Clinical diagnosis is often difficult owing to the absence of characteristic clinical features and neuroimaging findings.2 We report a patient with thrombosis of the right cortical vein of Labbe who showed reversible venous congestion with persistent symptoms. A 29-year-

Prognostic Role of Ultrasound Diagnostic Methods in Patients with Acute Decompensated Heart Failure
Objectives:To evaluate the prognostic value (total mortality + repeated hospitalization for heart failure (HF)) of ultrasound diagnostic methods in patients with acute decompensated HF (ADHF). Methods: The subjects were patients with chronic HF, who were

Deformation Mechanics of Self-expanding Venous Stents: Modelling and Experiments [PDF]
Deformation properties of venous stents based on braided design, chevron design, Z design, and diamond design are compared using in vitro experiments coupled with analytical and finite element modelling. Their suitability for deployment in different clinical contexts is assessed based on their deformation characteristics. Self-expanding stainless steel

Serial blood pressure measurements
The objective of the present investigation was to study the effects of a 60-s interval of venous congestion between two noninvasive measurements of arterial blood pressure (ABP) on the fluctuation of ABP, assessed by the standard deviation of the ...

Fluid-structure interaction simulations of venous valves: a monolithic ALE method for large structural displacements [PDF]
Venous valves are bicuspidal valves that ensure that blood in veins only flows back to the heart. To prevent retrograde blood flow, the two intraluminal leaflets meet in the center of the vein and occlude the vessel. In fluid-structure interaction (FSI) simulations of venous valves, the large structural displacements may lead to mesh deteriorations and

Bayesian statistical models to explore the use glucometer measurements of capillary blood sugar for OGTT Tests [PDF]
A common test for the diagnosis of type 2 diabetes is the Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT). Recent developments in the study of OGTT tests have framed it as a Bayesian inverse problem. These data analysis advances promise great improvements in the descriptive power of OGTTs.

Venous Pressure in Congestive Heart Failure in Infancy [PDF]
A retrospective study was made of the mean right atrial pressure in 131 infants with congenital heart disease. 56 are considered to have been in congestive heart failure at the time of cardiac catheterization, and 75 patients are considered not to have been so. The mean value for mean right atrial pressure was 7·7 mm.

Relationship of Venous Congestion to Worsening Renal Function
We read with considerable interest the article by Mullens et al. ([1][1]) as well as the accompanying editorial by Jessup and Constanzo ([2][2]). Although we do not doubt that venous congestion plays a role in glomerular filtration, the article lacks important data.

Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is a method for treating wound. However, there are no case reports using NPWT for treating congestion after arterialized venous flap.
