[Almitrine bismesylate and ventilation-perfusion ratios].
Revue des maladies respiratoires, 1986Almitrine bismesilate (Vectarion) is characterised by its specific activity on carotid and aortic chemoreceptors. A simultaneous study of the ventilatory and blood gas changes in the anaesthetised dog has shown a dissociation between these two effects.

[Foundation for the understanding of ventilation-perfusion ratio abnormalities].
Der Anaesthesist, 1988Understanding the mismatching of ventilation and perfusion (VA/Q) is of special interest in the intensive care setting because - given a stable cardiac output and a given inspiratory oxygen fraction - it allows one to explain certain essential respiratory problems in critically ill patients, namely hypoxemia and hypercarbia.

Quantification of regional ventilation-perfusion ratios with PET.
Journal of nuclear medicine : official publication, Society of Nuclear Medicine, 2004The topographic matching of alveolar ventilation (V(A)) and perfusion (Q) is the main determinant of gas exchange efficiency of the lung. However, no pulmonary functional imaging technique has been shown to predict whole-lung gas exchange in health and disease.

Diagnosis of pulmonary embolism (PE) by visual interpretation of ventilation/perfusion (V/Q) scans is limited by the high percentages of patients classified in the intermediate- and low-probability categories. This study proposes a quantitative analysis of the distribution of V/Q ratios to better identify patients with PE.We studied 99 consecutive ...
