Patient‐Derived 3D Bioprinted Cardiac Organoid Constructs Reveal Key Pathological Features of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived cardiac organoids reveal key features of Duchenne muscular dystrophy cardiomyopathy, including apoptosis, oxidative stress, calcium handling defects, and mechanical remodeling. By integrating organoids into alginate–gelatin bioprinted constructs, disease phenotypes are organized into scalable 3D cardiac tissues displaying extracellular ...

Evaluation of the knowledge and practice among intensive care physicians (Intensivists) in Egypt

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Chest Disease and Tuberculosis
Context ICU doctors offer 24-hour bedside care for critically ill patients. They may put established preventive methods into clinical practice and play a key role in preventing, controlling, and treating hospital-acquired infections in intubated patients.

Electrical impedance tomography to guide mechanical ventilation for asymmetrical lung injury: a case report

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
During last years, new methods of advanced ventilatory monitoring have been introduced to implement lung-protective ventilation. We present a unique case of a 66-year-old female admitted to the ICU with severe unilateral lung injury due to COVID-19 ...

Biomimetic Copper‐Doped Nano‐Aluminum Adjuvant Potentiates Therapy in Chemoresistant Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We developed a novel copper‐doped aluminum nano‐adjuvant (CuNA) to overcome cytarabine resistance in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). CuNA effectively sensitizes drug‐resistant AML cells to cytarabine by inducing mitochondrial dysfunction and inhibiting HMGCR/GPX4 to amplify ferroptosis.

Characterization of an Injectable Poly(vinyl alcohol)‐gelatin Hydrogel for Growth Factor Delivery in an Orthopedic Application

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces photo‐crosslinkable tyraminated poly(vinyl alcohol)‐gelatin (PVA‐GT) hydrogels as tunable injectable platforms for tissue engineering and growth factor delivery applications. This schematic illustrates the two developed hydrogel formulations and the experimental workflow used to evaluate their physico‐chemical properties in vitro ...

The effect of ventilator configurations in naturally ventilated greenhouse applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper the climate inside a greenhouse subject to various vent configurations is investigated. The greenhouse considered is a four span glass greenhouse, containing a plastic partition separating the greenhouse into two compartments.

Liquid Ventilation

open access: yesOman Medical Journal, 2011
Mammals have lungs to breathe air and they have no gills to breath liquids. When the surface tension at the air-liquid interface of the lung increases, as in acute lung injury, scientists started to think about filling the lung with fluid instead of air to reduce the surface tension and facilitate ventilation.
