Non-intrusive PODI-ROM for patient-specific aortic blood flow in presence of a LVAD device [PDF]
Left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) are used to provide haemodynamic support to patients with critical cardiac failure. Severe complications can occur because of the modifications of the blood flow in the aortic region. In this work, the effect of a continuous flow LVAD device on the aortic flow is investigated by means of a non-intrusive reduced ...

Abstract Background Heart failure (HF) is often comorbid with sleep disordered breathing (SDB). This prospective study investigated the prevalence, clinical characteristics, and predictors of SDB in hospitalized HF patients. Methods Sleep studies were performed on hospitalized HF patients from January 2015 to February 2019.

Feasibility of Heart Sound Analysis in Individuals Supported with Left Ventricular Assist Devices [PDF]
Left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) are surgically implanted mechanical pumps that improve survival rates for individuals with advanced heart failure. While life-saving, LVAD therapy is also associated with high morbidity, which can be partially attributed to the difficulties in identifying an LVAD complication before an adverse event occurs ...

Cardiac Organoid Model Inspired Micro‐Robot Smart Patch to Treat Myocardial Infarction
The heart organoid model exhibits the acidic microenvironment characteristic of myocardial infarction, which emerges as a pivotal force propelling the movement of micro‐robots. These micro‐robots, administered through microneedles, can penetrate deep into the tissue, effectively delivering therapeutic payloads to facilitate heart repair.

Abstract Background Antibody–drug conjugates (ADCs) have complex molecular structures and have been tested in numerous clinical trials. Therefore, understanding the mechanisms of their toxicity when applied in medical practice is of high importance. Methods In a systematic review and meta‐analysis of data gathered from different scientific databases ...

Costs Associated with Recurrent Epistaxis in a Patient with a Ventricular Assist Device [PDF]
Mucosal bleeding is a well-known complication of having a ventricular assist device and commonly presents with epistaxis. Although the frequency of epistaxis as a complication in patients with a ventricular assist device has been documented in the ...
