When Urgency Drops: Temporal Consciousness and the Choreography of Dying
ABSTRACT In the hospital, the transition from fighting for life to preparing for death involves not only a shift in medical repertoires but also a profound transformation in temporal experience. Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork in a Canadian intensive care unit, this article examines how the tempo of care, its rhythms, urgencies, and pauses shapes ...

Local application of gentamicin for wound closure after full‐support microaxial flow pump therapy. ABSTRACT Background Surgically implanted microaxial flow pumps (mAFP) are increasingly used for cardiogenic shock treatment. Standard mAFP explantation is performed bedside with a shortening of the vascular prosthesis, which may represent a potential ...

eOGO is an uncommon adverse event in patients on long‐term LVAD support. Thirty‐one eOGO patients were identified in a single‐centre HM3 implantation program. Twenty patients underwent percutaneous stenting. This treatment resulted in immediate LVAD flow improvement and yielded satisfactory quality‐of‐life results, with 62.5% patients assigned a fair ...

Direct intraoperative HeartMate 3 LVAD flow measurements using an ultrasonic probe revealed consistently higher values by approximately 0.5 L/min compared to device‐estimated flows. This discrepancy remained stable across pump speed settings, highlighting the importance of distinguishing measured from estimated flow in HeartMate 3 patients.
