Regression of hypertensive left ventricular hypertrophy and left ventricular diastolic function

The Lancet, 1990
The effect of antihypertensive therapy on regression of left ventricular hypertrophy and left ventricular diastolic function was investigated in 25 hypertensive patients for up to 18 months after initiation of treatment. Left ventricular mass index was calculated by two-dimensional echocardiography and left ventricular diastolic function assessed by ...

Left Ventricular Function and Regression of Left Ventricular Hypertrophy in Essential Hypertension

American Journal of Hypertension, 1993
Although left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) is an adaptive response to the increased load imposed on the heart in patients with hypertension, it ultimately is itself a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. The influence of LVH on left ventricular function and on the coronary circulation, and the occurrence of serious ventricular arrhythmias are

Left ventricular function

2011
Global left ventricular (LV) function is an important prognostic parameter and is useful for therapeutic decision-making. Since its introduction, twodimensional (2D) echocardiography has played an important role in the quantitation of LV function. However, the limitations of 2D echocardiography for the accurate determination of cardiac volumes and ...

Left Ventricular Endoaneurysmorrhaphy: Effect on Left Ventricular Size, Shape and Function

Cardiology, 2008
Left ventricular (LV) endoaneurysmorrhaphy is a relatively new surgical procedure with excellent results. Forty-five patients underwent surgical repair of LV aneurysm with LV endoaneurysmorrhaphy from 1991 to 1995. The main indication for operation was angina pectoris (71 %). Concomitant myocardial revascularization was performed in 97% of the patients.

Improved Left Ventricular Function After Chronic Left Ventricular Unloading

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1996
This study assessed the effect of prolonged left ventricular unloading on native ventricular function. We reviewed data from 31 patients (30 men, 1 woman) supported more than 30 days (mean, 137 days; range, 31 to 505 days) with the HeartMate left ventricular assist system.

Left ventricular function in pulmonary hypertension

Heart and Vessels, 2012
To elucidate left ventricular function in pulmonary hypertension, we measured parameters of left ventricular as well as right ventricular function by echocardiography in 11 patients with pulmonary hypertension (idiopathic pulmonary artery hypertension in 4, chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension in 5, and other pulmonary hypertension in 2).

Evaluation of Left Ventricular Diastolic Function

Cardiology Clinics, 1990
Doppler echocardiography can provide insight into the diastolic properties of the left ventricle. The hemodynamic origins of the diastolic mitral flow velocity profile are reviewed and Doppler information is compared to other measures of left ventricular diastolic function. Factors affecting the mitral diastolic flow velocity in both normal populations

Radionuclide monitoring of left ventricular function

Journal of Nuclear Cardiology, 2001
Several devices have been evaluated and validated for continuous monitoring of LV function. The diagnostic and prognostic roles of these techniques appear to be predominant in patients with CAD. Silent myocardial ischemia may be widely evaluated by these systems, which allow the clinician to predict ischemic cardiac events, perform risk stratification,

Left Ventricular Function in Peripartum Cardiomyopathy

Chest, 1983
Although many cases of peripartum cardiomyopathy have been reported in the literature, detailed data from left heart catheterization and contrast ventriculography are unavailable. A patient with peripartum cardiomyopathy had catheterization performed to clarify the diagnosis.

Left ventricular function during sepsis

Critical Care Medicine, 1989
The prevalence and prognostic significance of left ventricular involvement in septic patients without shock was investigated. Systolic time intervals (STI) and preejection period/left ventricular ejection time ratio (PEP/LVET) were used to assess left ventricular function. Forty-nine patients, 22 of whom ultimately died, were studied.
