Highly Sensitive Cuffless Blood Pressure Monitoring with Selective Laser‐Sintered Liquid Metal Conductors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A soft, compact, and cuffless system for continuous blood pressure monitoring using laser‐sintered liquid metal conductors is developed. The stretchability and sensitivity of the device enable real‐time, non‐invasive tracking of blood pressure, including recovery after exercise. This wearable device offers a practical solution for managing hypertension

Sildenafil improves right ventricular function in a cardiac transplant recipient [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We report the case of a male patient who underwent orthotopic cardiac transplantation. A marginal donor was used, because the recipient's clinical condition was critical.

Engineering Topographical Cues to Enhance Neural Regeneration in Spinal Cord Injury: Overcoming Challenges and Advancing Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Spinal cord injury (SCI) poses significant challenges for regeneration due to a series of secondary injury mechanisms. How to use biomaterial approach to target the failed regeneration after SCI remains a critical challenge. This review systematically evaluates current strategies to optimize biomaterial topographies for neurite outgrowth, axonal ...

Biomaterial Strategies for Targeted Intracellular Delivery to Phagocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Phagocytes are essential to a functional immune system, and their behavior defines disease outcomes. Engineered particles offer a strategic opportunity to target phagocytes, harnessing inflammatory modulation in disease. By tuning features like size, shape, and surface, these systems can modulate immune responses and improve targeted treatment for a ...

Vorticity‐Facilitated Platelet Aggregation: a High Expansion‐Ratio Stenotic Microfluidic Platform Unravels the Role of Complex Flow Dynamics in Arterial Thrombosis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study reveals how vorticity—a swirling flow pattern—enhances platelet aggregation and thrombus formation in high‐shear conditions. Using a custom microfluidic model, it is shows that vorticity promotes vWF–GPIbα interactions and calcium signaling, providing new insights into thrombosis mechanobiology and informing safer blood‐contacting medical ...

Right ventricular function and failure: report of a National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute working group on cellular and molecular mechanisms of right heart failure.

open access: yesCirculation, 2006
Knowledge about the role of the right ventricle in health and disease historically has lagged behind that of the left ventricle. Less muscular, restricted in its role to pumping blood through a single organ, and less frequently or obviously involved than
