Standardization and quality control of the introduction of a noninvasive cardiac output monitor for pregnancy measurements in a low‐ and middle‐income country

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
This quality assessment study demonstrates that with a robust learning package, and clearly defined image‐criteria, a novel maternal cardiac output monitor can be introduced into low‐ and middle‐income countries. Abstract Introduction There is increasing awareness of the role of the maternal cardiovascular system in complicated pregnancies. Despite the

Clinical Results for Cardiovascular Xenografts Treated With Novel Anticalcification Protocols

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the safety, efficacy, and clinical performance of the tissue‐engineered Periborn bovine pericardial scaffold treated with our novel anticalcification protocols for surgical repair of a variety of cardiovascular diseases. The overall probability of freedom from Periborn‐related reoperation was 95.4% ± 3.2% at 9 years.

Elevated COMMD1 Contributes to Cardiomyocyte Copper Efflux in Chronic Myocardial Ischemia: Insights From Rhesus Monkey

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Elevated COMMD1 contributes to copper efflux in cardiomyocytes during chronic ischaemia in rhesus monkey hearts, regulated by XIAP through post‐translational modification. Our findings suggest a positive feedback loop among XIAP, COMMD1 and copper efflux, contributing to ischaemic cardiomyocyte loss.

Cranial ultrasound in neonatal brain infections

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract Infection of the neonatal central nervous system (CNS) can cause irreversible brain damage. Cranial ultrasound is an important neuroimaging modality in the neonatal period for detecting brain injury. Several types of organism can cause neonatal CNS infection.
