Undiagnosed hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy during transcatheter aortic valve replacement: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2018
Background Transcatheter aortic valve replacement is indicated for severe symptomatic aortic stenosis in patients who have a very high or prohibitive surgical risk as assessed pre-procedurally by the Society of Thoracic Surgery Risk Score, EuroSCORE (II),

Application of Biosheets as Right Ventricular Outflow Tract Repair Materials in a Rat Model

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2022
PurposesWe report the experimental use of completely autologous biomaterials (Biosheets) made by “in-body tissue architecture” that could resolve problems in artificial materials and autologous pericardium.

Farthest Streamline Sampling for the Uniform Distribution of Forearm Muscle Fiber Tracts from Diffusion Tensor Imaging [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Background: Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) has been used to characterize forearm muscle architecture. Since only uniform sampling is performed for seed points rather than fiber tracts, the tracts may be unevenly distributed in the muscle volume. Purpose: To reconstruct uniformly distributed fiber tracts in human forearm by filtering the tracts from DTI.

A 90-year-old patient presenting with postoperative hypotension and a new murmur: a case report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
INTRODUCTION: Hospitalists are frequently consulted on postoperative patients with hypotension. Postoperative hypotension is common and can be due to variety of causes.

Pacing the right ventricular outflow tract septum

open access: yesEP Europace, 2012
We read with interest the article by Hillock and Mond1 in the January 2012 issue of the EP-Europace Journal. The authors make an extraordinary review of the always interesting and controversial topic of alternative pacing sites, focusing on right ventricular (RV) septal pacing.

Novel Transthoracic Pulmonary Valve Implantation Using Self‐Expanding Salus Valve: A Prospective Study of Safety and Mid‐Term Outcomes

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Transcatheter pulmonary valve replacement (TPVR) has emerged as a valuable treatment for severe pulmonary regurgitation (PR). The Salus valve (Balance Medical Technology Co. Ltd., Beijing, China) represents a novel self‐expanding valve stent designed for deployment through a transthoracic approach with a small subxiphoid incision ...

Sinus of Valsalva Aneurysm Dissecting into Interventricular Septum Compressing RVOT [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2018
Aneurysm of sinus of valsalva is a rare disorder. Rupture of sinus of valsalva into the right atria, right ventricle and the left ventricle is more commonly seen.

A rule-based method to model myocardial fiber orientation in cardiac biventricular geometries with outflow tracts [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Rule-based methods are often used for assigning fiber orientation to cardiac anatomical models. However, existing methods have been developed using data mostly from the left ventricle. As a consequence, fiber information obtained from rule-based methods often does not match histological data in other areas of the heart such as the right ventricle ...

Emergent Cardiac Surgery After Transcatheter Structural Heart Procedures: Narrative Review

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Transcatheter structural heart procedures have become standard therapy for elderly patients with high surgical risk. Over time, these procedures have significantly increased worldwide, accompanied by a concomitant reduction of major complications, including those requiring emergent cardiac surgery (ECS).

Vector Field Streamline Clustering Framework for Brain Fiber Tract Segmentation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Brain fiber tracts are widely used in studying brain diseases, which may lead to a better understanding of how disease affects the brain. The segmentation of brain fiber tracts assumed enormous importance in disease analysis. In this paper, we propose a novel vector field streamline clustering framework for brain fiber tract segmentations.
