Regulatory effect of gut microbes on blood pressure

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, Volume 5, Issue 6, Page 513-531, December 2022., 2022
The interaction between gut microbiota and hypertension, the genera which affect the blood pressure in taxonomic level, and the commonly used treatments to hypertension based on the gut microbes were summarized in this review. The increases of Lactobacillus, etc.

Elevated right ventricular systolic pressure and outcomes after emergency hip surgery: a case control study

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology
Patients at risk of pulmonary hypertension frequently present for emergency orthopedic surgery. A right ventricular systolic pressure of 35 mmHg or above, calculated from a tricuspid regurgitant jet on transthoracic echocardiogram, is considered an ...

High blood pressure and ventricular arrhythmias

open access: yesEuropean Heart Journal, 1993
Here we review the blood pressure-ventricular arrhythmia relationship. An increase in blood pressure, by any means, may induce ventricular arrhythmias both experimentally and in patients with a history of ventricular ectopic beats. Conversely, a decrease in blood pressure may eliminate ventricular arrhythmias due to other causes. The increased pressure

Leptin, blood pressure, and left ventricular mass in obese adolescents

open access: yesPaediatrica Indonesiana, 2013
Background Obesity is characterized by an excessive accumulation of body fat and has become a major health problem in industrialized societies especially with regards to heart disease. Adipose tissue derived hormone (leptin) can cause obesity.

Automated CFD shape optimization of stator blades for the PediaFlow pediatric ventricular assist device [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
PediaFlow is a miniature mixed-flow ventricular assist device for neonates and toddlers. PediaFlow has a fully magnetically levitated rotor which improves biocompatibility, but the increased length of the rotor creates a long annular passage where fluid energy is lost.

Biologically‐Inspired Melt Electrowriting for the Generation of Highly Biomimetic Functional Myocardium

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, melt electrowriting is used to fabricate a 3D printed scaffold design that generates engineered cardiac tissues with in‐plane contraction, mimicking natural myocardium. It is shown that these tissues display advanced maturation and functionality.

Wave intensity of aortic root pressure as diagnostic marker of left ventricular systolic dysfunction. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Systolic left ventricular function strongly influences the blood pressure waveform. Therefore, pressure-derived parameters might potentially be used as non-invasive, diagnostic markers of left ventricular impairment.
