Formation and Development of Pseudothecia of Venturia nashicola
Journal of Phytopathology, 2006AbstractConidia are believed to be the main source of primary inoculum for pear scab, caused by Venturia nashicola, in northern China. Experiments were conducted to investigate the development and potential role of V. nashicola ascospores in northern China.

Identification of genes induced by Venturia nashicola in indigenous Korean pear ‘Hwangsilri’
Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology, 2012Indigenous Korean pear ‘Hwangsilri’ leaves were inoculated with Venturia nashicola to build expressed sequence tags (ESTs) database as resources for transcripts induced in the inoculated leaves. After performing subtractive suppression hybridization using cDNA of the inoculated and uninoculated leaves harvested at 1, 48, and 96 hours after inoculation,

Abstract In order to determine if differences in timing or levels of gene and enzyme activations were likely to account for differences in resistance of pear cultivars against Japanese pear scab, time course analyses of several potential defense genes and enzymes as well as salicylic acid (SA) accumulation were carried out using leaf tissue of ...

Incidence‐density relationship of pear scab ( Venturia nashicola ) on fruits and leaves
Plant Pathology, 2006Lesion‐count data on fruits/leaves from two regions of China and on leaves from controlled‐environment studies were used to investigate incidence‐density [incidence of leaves/fruits with lesion(s) and average number of lesions per leaf/fruit] and incidence‐incidence [incidences of leaves and shoots with lesion(s)] relationships. Few of the datasets for

Abstract The mixture of fluxapyroxad plus pyraclostrobin or the 9 time-spray schedule with variousfungicides was evaluated for their efficacy in controlling pear scab in field trials. It showed sufficientcondition to evaluate the efficacy of fungicides for the control of pear scab since disease incidence of theuntreated control plot was 58.4% or 100 ...

Selection and Evaluation of Interspecific Hybrids of Pear Highly Resistant to Venturia nashicola
Journal of Phytopathology, 2012AbstractPear scab (Venturia nashicola Tanaka et Yamamoto or Venturia pirina Aderhold) is one of the most important diseases of pears. Two hybrids, 03‐04‐034 and 03‐08‐080, highly resistant to pear scab were selected from interspecific reciprocal crosses of Pyrus × bretschneideri cv. Yali and Pyrus × ussuriensis cv. Jingbaili.

Venturia nashicola, the scab fungus of Japanese and Chinese pears: a species distinct from V. pirina
Mycological Research, 2000The relationship of Venturia nashicola, the scab fungus of Japanese and Chinese pears, to the European pear scab fungus, V. pirina, was reexamined. Ascospores of V. pirina were longer and wider than those of V. nashicola and the conidia of V. nashicola significantly shorter than those of V. pirina.

AbstractSensitivity patterns of Venturia nashicola strains to ergosterol biosynthesis inhibitors (EBIs) were explored in order to obtain ‘base‐line’ data. For triflumizole or bitertanol, sensitivity was examined in mycelial growth tests and comparisons were based on EC50 rather than MIC values.

Changes in the proportion of benzimidazole‐resistant strains in populations of Venturia nashicola were monitored in pear orchards. Successive applications of thiophanate‐methyl increased the level of resistance in the populations.

A dynamic model, called VenInf, was developed to forecast infection of pear leaves by conidia of Venturia nashicola. By simulating conidial infection processes following a rain event, the model estimates % conidia that successfully infected leaves at the end of an infection period.
