Causal Prediction of TP53 Variant Pathogenicity Using a Perturbation‐Informed Protein Language Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A TP53‐specific predictor, CaVepP53, is developed by fine‐tuning ESMC on experimentally validated variants, quantifying pathogenicity via Euclidean distances. It outperforms general‐purpose models and extends to five cancer genes, enabling interpretable variant classification for precision medicine.

Mapping Genetic Regulation of Transcription to Identify Functional Variants and Genes Associated with Pancreatic Cancer Risk

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integration of a pancreatic eQTL map with a GWAS meta‐analysis identifies 82 putative functional variants and 15 genes. The association between rs11102484 and pancreatic cancer risk is observed in a total of 5699 cases and 8467 controls. The G allele of rs11102484 weakens ZNF263 binding and the silencer‐promoter interaction, thereby increasing ST7L ...

Geographical terms of Finnic substrate origin in the toponymy of Eastern Obonezh’e [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The paper offers an analysis of one of the best represented groups of substrate appellative lexis fixed in the toponymy of Eastern Obonezh’e – the landscape term, which is found in all structural types of the Finnic toponymic substrate in the study area.

Functional Segregation of Epileptogenicity within the Human Amygdala

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective In temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), the amygdala in the epileptogenic network is underestimated compared to other regions such as the hippocampus. Recent advances in anatomical neuroimaging and stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) signal analyses could help better understand the involvement of the different amygdala nuclei in the genesis of ...

KCNJ4 variants disrupt inward‐rectifier potassium channel function and cause refractory epilepsy

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Epilepsy is a common neurological disorder with a strong genetic basis, most frequently arising from ion channel dysfunction. Although multiple inwardly rectifying potassium (Kir) channels have been implicated in epileptogenesis, the contribution of KCNJ4, which encodes the Kir2.3 channel, has not previously been established in human

The Global Parkinson's Disease Genetics (GP2) Genome Browser

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Large‐scale sequencing initiatives have generated extensive genomic resources essential for variant interpretation, yet their effective use often requires bioinformatics expertise. To support identification of Parkinson's disease (PD) risk and disease‐causing variants, we developed an open‐access, summary‐level genomic data browser.

A flexible arched artificial photoreceptor constructed by photodeformable liquid crystal polymers and its application in vision restoration

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
A flexible arched artificial photoreceptor with high stability and biocompatibility was fabricated by integrating liquid crystal polymers with polyvinylidene fluoride‐trifluoroethylene. This device exhibits robust photoelectric responses under low‐intensity illumination and demonstrates efficacy in restoring visual responses in blind rats following ...

Enhancement of immune checkpoint inhibitor efficacy by DHX58+ SELL+ T cells in advanced gastric cancer

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
We created a coculture system using patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) and tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) that mimics important interactions between PDOs and TILs in the presence of various ICIs. Our findings reveal that CD62L+ T cells, activated by CD44+ cancer stem cells (CSCs), facilitate tumor regression in samples sensitive to ICIs, which is ...

On the View of 'the Other' - Abroad and At Home: The Geography and Peoples of the Far North, According to Historia Norwegie [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
In this discussion I want to focus the spotlight on what Historia Norwegiae (hereafter H.N.) reports on relations in the Far North, on the Sámi and on the interaction between Norwegians and Sámi, as well as additional peoples further to the east in the ...

Adoption of Minimum Tillage and Mid‐Season Drainage in Rice Production and Their Impacts on Farm and Economic Performance

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper investigates the effects of two greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation practices—minimum tillage and mid‐season drainage—on rice farmers' farm performance (e.g., crop yield and risk) and economic outcomes (e.g., income and vulnerability).
