Lippia umbellata Cav.: Chemical Composition, Insecticidal, and Antimicrobial Activities

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 8, August 2026.
Hexane extracts of Lippia umbellata leaves and flowers contain lupenone, α‐amyrin, and hentriacontane. They exhibit insecticidal activity against Drosophila melanogaster and inhibit AChE in vitro and in silico. Furthermore, the extracts can inhibit the growth of medically important bacteria and yeasts, including multidrug‐resistant strains.

FAMILIA VERBENACEAE

All pieces together now? A phylogenomic analysis and tribe‐level classification of the heterogeneous family Plantaginaceae

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract The plant family Plantaginaceae comprises approximately 2100 species in 106 genera, representing around 1% of all eudicots. The current circumscription of the family has been established in recent decades based on insights from DNA‐based phylogenetic analyses, which have united genera previously considered unrelated.

Resilience of floral scent emission after florivory

open access: yesPlant Biology, Volume 28, Issue 5, Page 1491-1506, August 2026.
Florivory is thought to affect floral traits, impacting pollination. However, our data suggest a stability in post‐florivory scent emission, which may guarantee the maintenance of pollinator visitation regardless of florivory, indicating a resilience of natural systems with multiple and simultaneous interactions. Created in BioRender. Tunes, P.

Integrated Approach for the Discovery of Antifungal and Antibiofilm Agents From Cerrado Plants

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 7, July 2026.
A comprehensive screening of 108 Brazilian Cerrado plant extracts identified potent inhibitors of Candida albicans biofilm formation. Active samples underwent UPLC–MS/MS and molecular networking for compound annotation, followed by in silico docking. This integrated workflow accelerates the discovery of bioactive metabolites by combining experimental ...
