A pan‐European citizen science study shows population size, climate and land use are related to biased morph ratios in the heterostylous plant Primula veris

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 1, January 2026.
A large‐scale citizen science study involving thousands of cowslip (Primula veris) observations from all over Europe revealed an unexpected prevalence of S‐morphs over L‐morphs, which was influenced by climatic as well as land use factors. Furthermore, general morph ratios were often unbalanced with the strongest shifts occurring in smaller populations.

Individual Plant Species' Occurrences and Habitat Preferences Are Related to Variation in Community‐Level Reflectance in Grasslands

open access: yesApplied Vegetation Science, Volume 29, Issue 1, January/March 2026.
We used occurrences of individual plant species to interpret community‐level patterns of canopy reflectance (414–2351 nm) in young‐to‐old successional grasslands on Öland, Sweden. Data on species' habitat preferences allowed interpretation of reflectance in different spectral regions in terms of variation in environmental properties such as soil ...

Real‐Time Measurement of Soil Organic Carbon and Related Properties Across Agricultural Land Types Using Mobile Near‐Infrared Spectroscopy

open access: yesSoil Use and Management, Volume 42, Issue 1, January‐March 2026.
ABSTRACT New mobile near‐infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) technology allows more frequent nutrient analysis of soil and plant properties among farms and agricultural land uses in real‐time. The aim of this study was to determine key soil organic carbon (SOC) and plant properties using real‐time mobile NIRS technique, and to assess metrics for SOC and its ...

The Applications of Machine Learning Algorithms in Vehicular Internet of Things: A Structured Literature Review and Avenue for Future Research Agenda

open access: yesInternational Journal of Intelligent Systems, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) and the Internet of Things (IoT) are fundamental components of intelligent transportation systems (ITS). The evolution toward 6G‐enabled vehicular networks and the integration of heterogeneous sensors in modern vehicles have created new opportunities for improving routing efficiency, mobility management, scalability ...

On Being Very, Very Old: An Insider's Perspective [PDF]

open access: yesThe Gerontologist, 2010
When I began to think about my perspective as a very very old person, I found that I was writing both from my perspective as a gerontologist and from my perspective as an individual grown old. The reason for my dual perspective is that I was born in 1922, at a time when the aging population was growing rapidly, and I lived through several ensuing ...

Mapping discourses through Hierarchical Clustering on Principal Components

open access: yesMethodological Innovations
This article proposes a methodological framework that combines a Q-concourse questionnaire with Multiple Factor Analysis and Hierarchical Clustering on Principal Components (MFA/HCPC) to derive discourse typologies from large-N survey data. The framework
