Storage‐and‐Memory‐Efficient Learned Image Compression With Quality‐Aware Hyperprior Pruning
We propose a quality‐aware hyperprior pruning method that efficiently reduces the storage and memory cost of the hyperprior module. It consists of two parts. The first part is a hyperprior pruning method, called enhanced ResRep on hyper path, which expands a channel pruning method to fundamental components in the hyperprior module of recent learned ...

Context-Based Ternary Tree Decision Method in Versatile Video Coding for Fast Intra Coding
This paper presents a fast encoding method for versatile video coding (VVC) using an early determination scheme that skips redundant multi-type tree (MTT) pruning. MTT consists of binary and ternary trees (TTs) with traditional quadtrees and has recently

Versatile Video Coding (VVC) Standard: Overview and Applications
Information security includes picture and video compression and encryption since compressed data is more secure than uncompressed imagery. Another point is that handling data of smaller sizes is simple. Therefore, efficient, secure, and simple data transport methods are created through effective data compression technology.

Attention-based Bi-Prediction Network with Knowledge Distillation for Versatile Video Coding (VVC)
Abstract In video coding, inter bi-prediction contributes to improve the coding efficiency significantly by producing precise fused prediction block. Although block-wise bi-prediction methods, such as bi-prediction with CU-level weight (BCW), are applied in Versatile Video Coding (VVC), linear fusion-based strategy is still difficult to ...

Dynamic estimator selection for double‐bit‐range estimation in VVC CABAC entropy coding
A selection method to determine which estimator is recommended to dynamically perform the current entropy coding. Taking advantage of the double‐bit‐range architecture, we also rearrange the bits contained in the different estimators based on MPS determination and Least Probable Symbol LPS considerations.
