Benign TdT-positive cells in pediatric and adult lymph nodes: a potential diagnostic pitfall [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Benign TdT-positive cells have been documented in a variety of non-hematopoietic tissues. Scant data are however available on their presence in non-neoplastic lymph nodes.

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Chromatin establishes an immature version of neuronal protocadherin selection during the naive-to-primed conversion of pluripotent stem cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In the mammalian genome, the clustered protocadherin (cPCDH) locus provides a paradigm for stochastic gene expression with the potential to generate a unique cPCDH combination in every neuron.

Trial protocol OPPTIMUM : does progesterone prophylaxis for the prevention of preterm labour improve outcome? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background Preterm birth is a global problem, with a prevalence of 8 to 12% depending on location. Several large trials and systematic reviews have shown progestogens to be effective in preventing or delaying preterm birth in selected high risk women ...

PSFHSP-Net: an efficient lightweight network for identifying pubic symphysis-fetal head standard plane from intrapartum ultrasound images

open access: yesMedical and Biological Engineering and Computing
The accurate selection of the ultrasound plane for the fetal head and pubic symphysis is critical for precisely measuring the angle of progression. The traditional method depends heavily on sonographers manually selecting the imaging plane.

Maternal and fetal complications associated with systemic lupus erythematosus

open access: yesMedicine, 2020
Background: Recent guidelines provide better treatment and management of pregnancy in women with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). In this analysis, we aimed to systematically assess the maternal and fetal complications associated with SLE using the ...

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.

Non-reassuring fetal heart rate and associated factors among laboring mothers at southern public hospitals in Ethiopia: a poisson regression model

open access: yesScientific Reports
Non-reassuring fetal heart rate is a critical indicator of fetal well-being. It is used to predict fetal hypoxia and metabolic acidosis due to insufficient fetal oxygenation and is the major contributor to perinatal mortality and morbidity.

Hepatic TET3 contributes to type-2 diabetes by inducing the HNF4α fetal isoform

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Precise control of hepatic glucose production (HGP) is pivotal to maintain systemic glucose homeostasis. HNF4α functions to stimulate transcription of key gluconeogenic genes.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.
