Endovascular treatment for vertebrobasilar insufficiency

Current Treatment Options in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2002
Endovascular management of supra-aortic atherosclerotic vascular disease is becoming relatively common in the innominate, subclavian, and carotid arteries. However, revascularization of vertebral artery disease is an infrequently used treatment option due to several reasons: 1) stroke etiology and prevention is generally considered with respect to ...

Diagnosis and Management of Vertebrobasilar Insufficiency

Current Treatment Options in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2013
Understanding the anatomical pathways and clinical presentations for VBI are of the utmost importance due to the potential mimics that may occur. After identification of the entity, imaging must be performed to identify the etiology. Distinguishing external compression of the vertebral artery from intrinsic vascular disease due to atherosclerosis or ...

Vertebrobasilar Artery Insufficiency and Electroencephalogram

Clinical EEG and Neuroscience, 2008
This is a renewed diagnostic approach to vertebrobasilar artery insufficiency (VBI) — a condition which stood in the focus of this author's interest several decades ago. The time for a revisitation has come. The EEG findings consist mainly of generally reduced voltage output and enhanced photic driving response. There is also some theta activity over

Vertebrobasilar insufficiency due to tumoural emboli

Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery, 1979
A case, which is clinically characterized by a subacute vertebrobasilar syndrome, is presented. The necropsy reveals multiple infarcts in brainstem, cerebellum and left cerebral hemisphere, due to tumoural emboli of a non-detected primary tumour. It is postulated that the latter has to originate in the lungs in order to produce this unique type of ...

The surgical management of vertebrobasilar insufficiency

Acta Neurochirurgica, 1983
Vertebrobasilar insufficiency may result from structural lesions anywhere along the vertebrobasilar system. The syndrome of vertebrobasilar insufficiency is discussed, and our experience with the surgical treatment of ...

Abnormal hemorheological parameters in vertebrobasilar-insufficiency

Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, 2009
Thirty-seven patients, aged 47 +/- 22 years, diagnosed suffering from vertebrobasilar insufficiency (VBI), underwent a hemorheological examination; 20% of these patients had no vascular risk-factor but none showed complete normal hemorheological findings.
