Deep‐UV Photonic Crystal Surface‐Emitting Lasers
The first deep‐UV photonic crystal surface‐emitting lasers (PCSELs) at 279 nm are demonstrated under pulsed optical pumping. The PCSELs have single‐mode emission with a 17‐pm linewidth and a divergence angle of less than 1∘$^{\circ }$. Experimental results highlight the impact of the filling factor choice on the lasing mode and the far‐field emission ...

This review highlights recent advances in accelerating luminescence in nanostructures through cooperative emission, resonator coupling, and nonlocal light–matter interactions. By unifying concepts such as excitonic superradiance, superfluorescence, and the plasmonic Purcell effect, it reveals physical limits of ultrafast emission and their potential ...

Utilization of 1-GHz VCSEL for 11.1-Gbps OFDM VLC Wireless Communication
In this paper, we propose using an energy-efficient and low-cost 682-nm vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) with 1-GHz modulation bandwidth for high-speed wireless visible light communication (VLC).

The Vertical-Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) and Electrical Access Contribution [PDF]
This chapter aims at highlighting the influence of the electrical access of different kinds of Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) (Rissons & Mollier, 2009). By presenting an overview of electrical equivalent circuit modeling and characterization for the VCSEL chip, based on the Scattering parameters, an overview of the VCSEL performance is ...

Group Delay Dispersion Measurements on Mid‐Infrared Supermirrors
Group delay dispersion of novel semiconductor‐based optics is measured in the mid‐infrared spectral range (2.5 to 4.8 μm$\rm \umu{\rm m}$). Comparisons are made between simulations, measurements conducted with a home‐built white light interferometer, and measurements performed with a commercially available FTIR.

Continuous‐wave lasing from a small number of perovskite quantum dots is achieved by coupling their photoluminescence to open‐access curved dielectric cavities. This geometry confines their emission into a single optical mode, sharply narrowing linewidths in both spontaneous and lasing regimes.

Learning Gradient-Based Feed-Forward Equalizer for VCSELs
Vertical cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL)-based optical interconnects (OI) are crucial for high-speed data transmission in data centers, supercomputers, and vehicles, yet their performance is challenged by harsh and fluctuating thermal conditions ...
