Vertical Accelerations in Prestressed Concrete Tanks
Journal of Structural Engineering, 1984Vertical accelerations of circular cylindrical tanks and their contents cause hoop forces in the tank walls. The hoop forces caused by hydrodynamic fluid pressure are additive to those caused by hydrostatic fluid pressure; earthquake-resistant design of tanks should therefore consider the combined fluid pressure.

Interactive System based on the False Perception of Acceleration and Verticality
Proceedings of the 2015 Virtual Reality International Conference, 2015The objective of this study is to implement a cost efficient interactive system that provides user the sense of realistic acceleration in virtual world. The sense of acceleration enhances the immersion of the user. This is achieved by tilting the whole equipment and presenting visual cue of acceleration to the user.

Evaluation of Standing Vertical Jump by Ankles Acceleration Measurement
Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, 2010The use of accelerometers is discussed to evaluate standing vertical jump. Two accelerometers, mounted on each ankle and connected to a wearable system, were used for signal acquisition, and a piezoelectric platform was used to verify the results.

An electron model of vertical FFA accelerator for Harmonytron
2023A new type of accelerator called Harmonytron has been proposed. The Harmonytron is based on a scheme of vertical Fixed-Field Alternating gradient (vFFA) focusing with harmonic number jump beam acceleration. An electron model of vFFA accelerator is under development at Kyushu University. The current status of the vFFA accelerator will be discussed.
