Characteristics of denitrification in a vertical baffled bioreactor

Environmental Research, 2021
A vertical baffled bioreactor (VBBR) was employed for tertiary denitrification. Its features were designed to minimize the demand for externally supplied electron donor by minimizing net biomass synthesis and oxygen respiration. Over a two-year period, complete denitrification was realized routinely in the VBBR.

Interface Shape under the Insulating Baffle in Vertical Bridgman Systems

Crystal Research and Technology, 2022
AbstractIn the vertical Bridgman (VB) configuration, the shape of the solid–liquid (s/l) interface controls the yield and quality of single crystals. The two key effects for growing CdTe in VB configuration with the baffle is are considered: i) the thermal conductivity of the baffle and 2) baffle/crystal rotation.

Effect of Vertical Elastic Baffle on Liquid Sloshing in Rectangular Rigid Container

International Journal of Structural Stability and Dynamics, 2021
Sloshing may induce adverse loads to cause structural instability and damage. A vertical elastic baffle mounted at the inside bottom of a rectangular container is used as an anti-slosh device to attenuate the liquid oscillation. A semi-analytical model is presented to analyze the hydroelastic problem.

Sloshing in a Vertical Circular Cylindrical Container With a Vertical Baffle

ASME 2010 7th International Symposium on Fluid-Structure Interactions, Flow-Sound Interactions, and Flow-Induced Vibration and Noise: Volume 3, Parts A and B, 2010
The linear problem of liquid sloshing in a cylindrical container with a vertical baffle is considered in the present paper. In this study, a theoretical oriented approach is developed for calculating the natural frequencies of liquid. The baffle is a thin-walled and open-ended cylindrical shell that is concentrically placed and partially submerged ...

Dynamics of rectangular tank with perforated vertical baffle

Ocean Engineering, 2016
Abstract Slosh dynamics of liquid filled tanks is of paramount importance in the study of fluid-structure interaction. Since beginning sectors and compartments are used in fuel tanks of rockets and massive sea ferrying liquid carriers to control dynamic properties of liquid filled tanks.

Natural convection in an enclosure with a vertical baffle

Communications in Applied Numerical Methods, 1988
AbstractA numerical study is made of natural convection in an enclosure with a vertical, finitely conducting baffle. The end‐wall is assumed to be either perfectly conducting or adiabatic. Predicted flow and isotherm patterns indicate the existence of strong thermal stratification in the baffle/cold wall region and are in qualitative agreement with ...
