Resonant frequencies in a container with a vertical baffle
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1987The effects of a vertical baffle on the resonant frequencies of fluid within a rectangular container are investigated using the linearized theory of water waves. The accuracy of simple approximate solutions is assessed by comparison with an accurate solution based on eigenfunction expansions.

Improved Understanding of Vertical Barriers / Baffles by History Match Analysis
SPE Kuwait Oil & Gas Show and Conference, 2019Abstract Minagish Oolite reservoir is a prolific limestone reservoir in Umm Gudair field underlain by an active aquifer situated in West Kuwait. The field has been on production for over 50 years and has been experiencing rising water production levels in the recent years. Understanding the movement of water in the reservoir is vital for

Turbulent mixing in baffled stirred tanks with vertical‐blade impellers
AIChE Journal, 1988AbstractMixing time and power consumption have been measured in baffled, paddle‐agitated cylindrical tanks with single‐ and double‐impellers, and mixing efficiency has been defined by a reciprocal of the product of the mixing time and power consumption.

Performance of flow and heat transfer in vertical helical baffle condensers
International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 2016Abstract The feed water heaters in power plants are actually the condensers using turbine extracting steam to heat feed water. The vertical feed water heater occupies less area than the horizontal one and convenient to lift tube bundles out in maintenance.

Heat transfer coefficients in an agitated vessel using vertical tube baffles
The Chemical Engineering Journal, 1982Abstract Heat transfer coefficients for vertical tube baffles in an agitated vessel have been investigated in model vessels of three different dimensions. A modified Reynolds number has been introduced into the heat transfer equation which contains the product dn representating the fluid velocity at the tube baffle and the external tube diameter d o .

Convective instability in saturated porous enclosures with a vertical insulating baffle
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1993Abstract The convective instability in two-dimensional enclosures containing a fluid-saturated porous medium with an insulating baffle extending vertically from the bottom boundary is investigated. The baffle influences the stability through its height and its horizontal position.

Experimental investigation of parametric sloshing in a tank with vertical baffles
Ocean Engineering, 2020Abstract Free surface of parametric sloshing will undergo unbounded motion, resulting in destabilization, if the combination of excitation frequency and amplitude is located in instable regions. In studies of parametric sloshing, high modes are of great concern.

Numerical investigation of a vertically baffled rectangular tank under seismic excitation
Journal of Fluids and Structures, 2016Abstract The damping effect of the vertical baffles inside a liquid storage tank is studied in this paper. A numerical model based on the finite volume method is established and used to evaluate the accuracy of an analytical model developed to estimate the hydrodynamic damping caused by the vertical wall bounded baffles.

Growth of Ga-doped Ge0.98Si0.02 by vertical Bridgman with a baffle
Journal of Crystal Growth, 2000Abstract A 6 cm in diameter Ga-doped Ge 0.98 Si 0.02 crystal was grown using the vertical Bridgman method with a submerged baffle. After 3 cm of growth, the baffle was removed and the solidification continued in conventional Bridgman configuration. The composition of Si and Ge was measured using electron probe micro-analysis (EPMA).

Optimization of thermosolutal convection in vertical porous annulus with a circular baffle
Thermal Science and Engineering Progress, 2020Abstract An enclosed annular geometry with a conducting baffle attached to one of the thermally active walls aptly represents many scientific applications. This article reports the thermosolutal convection in a vertical cylindrical porous annulus with a thin baffle attached to an inner cylinder.
