Evaluating the Potential of Sea Surface Height Observations and Depth Datum Calculation Using GNSS/IMU Buoys

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
This study evaluates the potential of GNSS/IMU buoys for sea surface height observations and depth datum verification. GNSS/IMU buoys were deployed alongside 34 tide gauges around Taiwan for synchronous sea surface height measurements. The collected GNSS

Exhumation History of the Sangre de Cristo Range, Colorado, From Mid‐ to Low‐Temperature Thermochronology: New Insights Into Laramide Contraction and Oligocene–Miocene Extension in the Northern Rio Grande Rift, USA

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 45, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract The Sangre de Cristo Range in southern Colorado records a complex tectonic history that includes Late Cretaceous–Eocene Laramide contraction and Oligocene–Quaternary Rio Grande rift extension. We present new thermochronologic data (40Ar/39Ar, fission‐track, (U‐Th)/He) and thermal history models that provide insight into this polyphase history ...

Multi‐metric complexity drives ecological succession on blue‐green infrastructure across scales

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 8, August 2026.
Our findings demonstrate that restoring coastal habitat complexity can substantially improve ecosystem diversity and functioning, offering a scalable marine conservation approach within increasingly engineered seascapes. We highlight the need for multi‐metric, multi‐scale assessments of spatio‐temporal community formation on eco‐engineered ...

Spiders in the mosaic: How habitat heterogeneity and structure drive local spider diversity in a Mediterranean forest

open access: yesEcological Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 4, Page 810-826, August 2026.
We assessed alpha‐ and beta‐diversity patterns of spiders across different forests and across vegetation layers (ground, shrub, low canopy) at local spatial scales across various Mediterranean forest types. Across forests, alpha‐diversity increased with habitat heterogeneity, which also drove beta‐diversity patterns across plots .

Formation process of the gravel‐dominated deposit from the 2011 Tohoku‐oki tsunami in Ofunato, northeastern Japan, inferred by integrating sedimentology and tsunami modelling

open access: yesSedimentology, Volume 73, Issue 5, Page 1378-1402, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Tsunami deposits serve as geological records of past events and are essential for understanding the occurrence and dynamics of tsunamis. However, conventional research has largely focused on sandy and boulder deposits, leaving gravel‐dominated tsunami deposits comparatively underexplored; furthermore, their characteristics and formation ...
