Limits to the Hall Effect and Other Nonreciprocal Effects in Three‐Dimensional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Comprehensive and fundamental bounds on nonreciprocal effects in three‐dimensional metamaterials are derived. They reveal that the effective Hall mobility cannot exceed the largest constituent mobility, that, under certain conditions, the Verdet constant cannot be enhanced, and that, for constituents with Hall coefficients of the same sign, the largest

Influential factors on speed reduction at vertical deflection devices in mixed traffic environments

open access: yesTransportation Research Interdisciplinary Perspectives
Vertical deflection devices are widely implemented as traffic calming measures, designed to compel drivers to reduce their speeds to ensure a comfortable passage over them.

Role of the Recombination Zone in Organic Light‐Emitting Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the critical role of the recombination zone in organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). We highlight that broadening the recombination zone in OLEDs based on emissive layers with balanced charge transport and high photoluminescence quantum yields provides a promising route toward achieving both long operational lifetime and high ...

Effects of Inflow Deflection Angle on the Stall Formation Mechanism and Flow Field Structure in a Vertical Axial-Flow Pump

open access: yesMachines
The influence of inflow angle on the stall characteristics of a vertical axial flow pump is investigated numerically by solving the unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes equations.

Transparent Perovskite Light‐Emitting Diodes with Conductive Oxide Top Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transparent perovskite light‐emitting diodes (TrPeLEDs) enable simultaneous display and transparency, expanding application possibilities. Using a metal oxide buffer layer and pulsed laser deposition, TrPeLEDs with diverse compositions and architectures are demonstrated.

Impact of vertical deflection on direct georeferencing of airborne images

open access: yes, 2015
This paper is aimed at analysing the influence of the vertical deflection (DOV) in direct georeferencing (DG) of image data from an aerial digital frame camera. Without considering the value of the DOV, a systematic error is involved in the determination

Numerically evaluate octal-shaped tunnel response under various conditions of static loading

open access: yesResults in Engineering
The deflection is a vital issue for tunnel design, and an efficient tunnel shape exhibits lower deflection. For this reason, the octal-shaped tunnel (OST) is chosen with the replacement of conventional shapes (i.e., circular, rectangular, horseshoe, etc.)

Azobenzene's Cross‐Scale Optics and Photonics: Molecular Photoswitching, Mesoscopic Material Motions, and Adaptive Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Azobenzene photoswitches translate molecular‐scale E/Z photoisomerization into macroscopic material responses and device‐level photonic functions. This Review highlights how azobenzene research has evolved from molecular photochemistry to photoalignment, mass migration, photomechanics, and heat release, ultimately enabling holography, reconfigurable ...

Rethinking Charge Transport and Recombination in Donor‐Diluted Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Organic solar cells with 1–45% PM6 content in Y12 were studied to link structure and charge dynamics to performance. The conductivity follows a 3D percolation model without a sharp threshold. Donor dilution preserves the photogeneration yield, but limits the fill factor due to transport resistance losses.

Generating Unconventional Spin‐Orbit Torques With Patterned Phase Gradients in Tungsten Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A key aim in spintronics is to achieve current‐induced magnetization switching via spin‐orbit torques without external magnetic fields. For this, the focus of recent work has been on introducing controlled lateral gradients across ferromagnet/heavy‐metal devices, giving variations in thickness, composition, or interface quality.
