Microscale Patterning of Ultrahigh‐Viscosity Metallic‐Polymer Composites via Embedded Droplet Writing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid additive manufacturing platform integrates direct droplet writing of metallic composite with VAT photopolymerization to fabricate architected soft magnetic composites. This approach enables microscale patterning of high‐viscosity materials for programmable actuators, adaptive fluidic devices, and switchable adhesives, offering tunable ...

CO2‐to‐CO Conversion in a Gas‐Fed, Zero‐Gap, PEM Electrolyzer Enabled by Polycations and Nitrogen‐Doped Carbon‐Supported Cobalt Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A gas‐fed, zero‐gap, PEM CO2 electrolyzer is realized by incorporating PDDA+ ions onto the carbonaceous Co/N‐C electrocatalyst, with gaseous H2 and CO2 fed into the anode and cathode, respectively. Operating without an aqueous electrolyte, the system sustains a peak FECO of 65.1% at 100 mA cm−2. ABSTRACT Electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction (ECO2R)

Critical Length of a Column in View of Bifurcation Theory

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2001
The paper investigates nonlinear eigenvalue problem for a vertical homogeneous rod loaded with its own weight only. The critical length of the rod, for which the rod loses its stability, is found by use of bifurcation theory.

Experimental and FE Investigations of Backfill Cover on Large-Diameter GRP Pipes

open access: yesCivilEng
This paper presents experimental investigations on buried Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) pipes with a diameter of 1400 mm. The tested pipes were buried in dense, gravelly sand and subjected to traffic loads to study the effects of backfill cover on pipe ...

Acetoacetates Derived From Vegetable Oils: A Platform for Tailor‐Made Vinylogous Urethane Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A renewable vegetable oil is converted into acetoacetate‐functionalized precursors for the preparation of catalyst‐free vinylogous urethane foams. Room‐temperature foaming with n‐pentane generates lightweight cellular materials, while the choice of amine enables control over foam structure and mechanical properties.

Architecture‐Driven Functional Coupling in Vertically Aligned Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Vertically aligned nanocomposites define a growth‐engineered architecture in which vertical interfaces, strain fields, defect pathways, and phase connectivity are created simultaneously. This review shows how these architectural features couple ferroic, optical, ionic, electrochemical, and device responses, establishing design rules and open challenges

Measurement and Finite Element Modeling of the Non-composite Deflections of Steel Plate Girder Bridges

open access: yes, 2005
The inability to accurately predict the non-composite steel girder deflections that occur during the deck construction of skewed and stage-constructed bridges is a problem that has resulted in many costly construction delays and maintenance and safety ...

Patient‐Derived 3D Heart‐On‐a‐Chip Model of Dilated Cardiomyopathy With Embedded Bead‐Based Mapping of Tissue Contractility

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A heart‐on‐a‐chip model of dilated cardiomyopathy is developed from patient‐derived induced pluripotent stem cells. The model recapitulates key disease phenotypes and enables functional assessment through integrated bead‐based tracking and pillar deflection measurements.
