A landslide monitoring technology based on BeiDouand, a wireless sensor network, is proposed in order to solve the problem that landslide has brought severe threat to people’s life and safety of property. The landslide monitoring system based on the BeiDouand wireless sensor network is analyzed and designed from the point of view of hardware and ...

Unlocking Digitalization in Forest Operations with Viewshed Analysis to Improve GNSS Positioning Accuracy [PDF]
This study evaluated the positioning accuracy of moving forest harvesters using global navigation satellite system (GNSS) signals under a forest canopy, and developed approaches for forecasting accuracy under a mature spruce canopy cover.

Birds exhibit flexible movement responses to environmental variation across the annual cycle, and those responses can provide insight into potential impacts that environmental changes may have on these species. To understand year‐round variation in space use by Ferruginous Hawks Buteo regalis, we tracked 12 birds breeding in southwestern Idaho, USA ...

This study aims to test experimentally the influence of multi‐constellation multi‐frequency modules on the performance of the GNSS collars. We applied static and kinematic tests designed to evaluate the performance and positioning improvement with a multi‐constellation multi‐frequency module on a prototype GNSS collar. The results showed that the multi‐

Heuristic search for multi‐distance measuring equipment station selection
Abstract To support alternative positioning, navigation and timing (A‐PNT), multi‐DME with better geometry than distance measuring equipment (DME)/DME can be used to improve the performance. Different from the existing station selection methods that have been proposed for DME/DME, a station selection method for multi‐DME should be considered in order ...

Classifying behavior from short‐interval biologging data: An example with GPS tracking of birds
We demonstrate the use of K‐means clustering to classify bird behavior using points from short time interval GPS tracks. We illustrate how these data can be used to identify behaviors and life stage‐ and age‐related variation in behavior. Our work has implications for understanding movement behaviors from GPS data.

A location sensor is a feature that communicates with a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver to learn about the status of the current location. This work presents the GPS receiver position estimation and Dilution of Precision (DOP) analysis using a new approximate form of observation matrix which can be used in place of the classic observation ...

Summary The application of GPS in bridge monitoring aims to determine accurately and precisely the response of the deck and towers of the bridge and estimate the main response characteristics (amplitude and modal frequencies). The main requirement of GPS monitoring is a high level of accuracy and availability of fixed solutions, which ensure the ...

Linking behavioral states to landscape features for improved conservation management
Despite the importance of linking habitat use to specific behaviors, this is almost never done, in part because of the many challenges in understanding where and when individual behaviors occur. Here, we use long‐term, short‐interval, and highly precise GPS data as input to recently developed models to interpret animal behavior from telemetry data to ...
