Pre-extraction records of the occlusal plane and vertical dimension
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1977Abstract A device for recording both the inclination and height of the occlusal plane and the occlusal vertical dimension before extraction of teeth has been described. The device is simple and the records are based on landmarks which do not change as the patient ages.

Use of anterior teeth measurements in determining occlusal vertical dimension
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1987Impressions were made from the anterior segment of the mouth in 25 subjects with their teeth in centric occlusion. Measurements were made on each impression to determine the relation of the maxillary and mandibular vestibular folds and of the anterior teeth to the maxillary and mandibular mucolabial reflections.

[Determination of vertical dimension of dental occlusion].
Nederlands tijdschrift voor tandheelkunde, 2002Principles and concepts in determining the vertical dimension of occlusion in mutilated dentitions are summarized. Historically, most concepts have been developed for full dentures. However, in the rehabilitation of a mutilated dentition it is often necessary to increase or change the vertical dimension of occlusion.

[Determination of the vertical dimension of occlusion].
Les Cahiers de prothese, 1990It is generally accepted that some anatomical sites, facial as well as oral, remain stable throughout the life of a human being. In this study, a population of 191 dentulous subjects without clinical symptoms and a mean of 21 years and 4 months, was selected. The first part attempts, from facial landmarks, stable with time, to establish statistics that

Vertical Dimension of Occlusion in Implant Dentistry: Significance and Approach
Implant Dentistry, 2002Understanding the principles of occlusion as they relate to managing bite forces on implants is extremely important to maintain the longevity of dental implant prostheses. Specifically, altering vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO) scientifically and predictably is critical to the creation of proper tooth form and guidance when fabricating a full-arch

Alteration of the vertical dimension of occlusion: Clinical repercussions
The loss of the vertical occlusion dimension (OLD) is the result of a major occlusal imbalance, where, in addition to the loss of dental elements, the responsible factor may be parafunctions, such as bruxism. The reestablishment of the vertical dimension of occlusion is very important for the preparation of prosthetic works since its non-establishment ...Victor de Mello Palma +3 more
