Mergers and acquisitions in TV production, aggregation and distribution: challenges for competition, industrial and media policy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper focuses on the recent wave of M&A activity, both vertical and horizontal in TV production, aggregation and distribution industries, and discusses the implications of M&A activity for competition, industrial and media policymaking. Moreover, it

Exploring the spatial, temporal, and vertical distribution of methane in Pluto's atmosphere

open access: yes, 2014
High-resolution spectra of Pluto in the 1.66 um region, recorded with the VLT/CRIRES instrument in 2008 (2 spectra) and 2012 (5 spectra), are analyzed to constrain the spatial and vertical distribution of methane in Pluto's atmosphere and to search for ...

Vascular epiphytes of the Atlantic Forest in the Sinos River basin, state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil: richness, floristic composition and community structure

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology
The Atlantic Forest, which has a vast epiphytic richness, is a priority area for preservation, listed as one of the five most important world hotspots. Vascular epiphyte richness, composition and community structure were studied in two fragments, one of ...

Vertical distribution of expansive, bloom-forming algae Gonyostomum semen vs. plankton community and water chemistry in four small humic lakes

open access: yesKnowledge and Management of Aquatic Ecosystems, 2018
One of the features of Gonyostomum semen, a bloom-forming and expansive flagellate, is uneven distribution in the vertical water column often observed in humic lakes. In this paper, we analysed vertical distribution of the algae in four small (0.9–2.5 ha)

Study of the ammonia ice cloud layer in the north tropical zone of Jupiter from the infrared interferometric experiment on Voyager [PDF]

open access: yes
An average of 51 Voyager 1 IRIS spectra of Jupiter's North Tropical Zone was analyzed to infer the abundance, vertical extent, and size distribution of the particles making up the ammonia cloud in this region.

Storage and Competition in gas market [PDF]

open access: yes
n order to analyze competition in gas markets, an intermediate activity of storage is included in a classical model of vertical relations. In that case, firms can inject or withdraw strategically natural gas resource.

Parameterizing Vertically Coherent Cloud Distributions

open access: yesJournal of the Atmospheric Sciences, 2002
Abstract A parameterization for specifying subgrid-scale cloud distributions in atmospheric models is developed. The fractional area of a grid-scale column in which clouds from two levels overlap (i.e., the cloud overlap probability) is described in terms of the correlation between horizontal cloudiness functions in the two levels.

An Index of Inequality: With Applications to Horizontal Equity and Social Mobility [PDF]

open access: yes
An index of Inequality is constructed which decomposes into two components, corresponding to vertical and "horizontal" equity respectively. Horizontal equity Is defined in terms of changes in the ordering of a distribution.
