Impact of Vertical Handovers on Cooperative Content Distribution Systems
Seventh IEEE International Conference on Peer-to-Peer Computing (P2P 2007), 2007In this paper, we evaluate the performance of a P2P- based content distribution system in heterogeneous, wireless networks. The mobile users coordinate each other with cooperation strategies enabled by the multi-source download mechanism, as in eDonkey or BitTorrent. Due to the mobility, vertical handovers between different wireless access technologies

Performance Evaluation of Vertical Handover Mechanisms in IP Networks
2008 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2008In this paper we discuss a methodology for performance evaluation of the solutions for vertical handovers between different wireless access technologies in IP network. The performance evaluation is based on simple analytical models and covers both the ideal case (no packet loss) and the real case where there is a given packet loss rate. The methodology

Vertical Handover Scheme Evaluation for GOVSATCOM Systems
2025 Joint European Conference on Networks and Communications & 6G Summit (EuCNC/6G Summit)The European Governmental Satellite Communications (EU GOVSATCOM) program aims to federate European satellite operators and integrate their systems with 5G terrestrial networks to improve mission-critical services. This paper investigates the Vertical Handover (VHO) between Terrestrial Networks (TN) and Non-Terrestrial-Networks (NTN) and proposes a ...

Effects of the Vertical Handover Policy on the Performance of Internet Applications
2004One of the major challenges posed by 4th generation (4G) network concept is that of integrating heterogeneous wireless networks technologies to build a globally interoperable system. In this context, issues like mobility management and session management have been widely addressed by researchers.
