MHD simulations of oscillating cusp-filling tori around neutron stars -- missing upper kHz QPO

open access: yes, 2017
We performed axisymmetric, grid-based, ideal magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations of oscillating cusp-filling tori orbiting a non-rotating neutron star. A pseudo-Newtonian potential was used to construct the constant angular momentum tori in equilibrium.

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Vertical Distribution, Diurnal Evolution, and Source Region of Formaldehyde During the Warm Season Under Ozone-Polluted and Non-Polluted Conditions in Nanjing, China

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Formaldehyde (HCHO), a key volatile organic compound (VOC) in the atmosphere, plays a crucial role in driving photochemical processes. Satellite-based observations of column concentrations of HCHO and other gaseous pollutants (e.g., NO2) have generally ...

Prognostic Implications of Sleep Architecture for Patients Admitted to the Intensive Care Unit With Status Epilepticus

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Status epilepticus (SE) is associated with significant mortality. Sleep architecture may reflect normal brain function. Impaired sleep architecture is associated with poorer outcomes in numerous conditions. Here we investigate the association of sleep architecture in continuous EEG (cEEG) with survival in SE.

Band Structures of Symmetrical Graphene Superlattice with Cells of three Regions

open access: yes, 2017
We study the electronic band structures of massless Dirac fermions in symmetrical graphene superlattice with cells of three regions. Using the transfer matrix method, we explicitly determine the dispersion relation in terms of different physical ...

Engineering the side facets of vertical [100] oriented InP nanowires for novel radial heterostructures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In addition to being grown on industry-standard orientation, vertical [100] oriented nanowires present novel families of facets and related cross-sectional shapes.

Development of a Prediction Model for Progression Risk in High‐Grade Gliomas Based on Habitat Radiomics and Pathomics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To investigate the value of constructing models based on habitat radiomics and pathomics for predicting the risk of progression in high‐grade gliomas. Methods This study conducted a retrospective analysis of preoperative magnetic resonance (MR) images and pathological sections from 72 patients diagnosed with high‐grade gliomas (52 ...

Nearest-neighbor coupling asymmetry in the generation of cluster states

open access: yes, 2010
We demonstrate that charge-qubit cluster state generation by capacitive coupling is anisotropic. Specifically, horizontal vs vertical nearest-neighbor inter-qubit coupling differs in a rectangular lattice.
