Experimental Evidence of the Influence of Recurves on Wave Loads at Vertical Seawalls [PDF]
The role of recurves on top of seawalls in reducing overtopping has been previously shown but their influence in the distribution and magnitude of wave-induced pressures and forces on the seawall remains largely unexplored. This paper deals with the effects of different recurve geometries on the loads acting on the vertical wall.

Barrier island erosion and overwash study -- effect of seawalls. Volume 2 [PDF]
This is the second of a pair of reports documenting the effects of storms on beach systems including the presence of seawalls. With the aim of simulating the effects of overwash on barrier islands with seawalls and characterizing their response, a ...

Wave overtopping and toe scouring at a plain vertical seawall with shingle foreshore : a physical model study [PDF]
This paper describes a physical model study to investigate the wave overtopping and toe scouring at a plain vertical wall with a shingle foreshore. A matrix of 180 experimental test conditions were performed in a 2D wave flume, with an approximate scale ...

The spread of non‐native species
ABSTRACT The global redistribution of species through human agency is one of the defining ecological signatures of the Anthropocene, with biological invasions reshaping biodiversity patterns, ecosystem processes and services, and species interactions globally.

Effects of seawalls on the adjacent beach [PDF]
This study was carried out to examine the effects of seawalls on the adjacent beach by three dimensional model test. The results obtained from model test were analyzed in terms of volumetric changes and shoreline and hydrographic change to quantify ...

Summary Under a changing climate, it is imperative that we understand how species may respond to temperature impacts, which can differ among populations of the same species due to local drivers. Thermal tolerance data, which can be used to assess an organism's upper thermal limits, is valuable to identify species and/or populations' susceptibility to ...

The impacts of coastal protection structures in California’s Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary [PDF]
This report outlines the potential impacts of coastal protection structures on the resources of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. At least 15 miles of the Sanctuary’s 300-mile shoreline are currently armored with seawalls and riprap revetments.

A hybrid RANS‐LES turbulence model adapted for the Moving Particle Semi‐implicit method is employed to investigate a turbulent free surface flow. A method based on the cell‐linked list is proposed to speed up the nearest wall search for the turbulence model.
