Wave overtopping at a vertical seawall by Boussinesq modeling

2022
Numerical models may represent a useful tool to estimate wave overtopping discharge. However, so far there is still little available literature on numerical modeling, especially on Boussinesq modeling. The paper analyses the ability of a BTM, Celeris, to predict wave overtopping at a vertical seawall with shallow foreshore, comparing numerical outcomes

COMPARISON OF PRESSURES DUE TO RANDOM WAVES ON VERTICAL AND CURVED SEAWALLS

ISH Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 2010
ABSTRACT The design of an efficient seawall should be such that the overtopping is minimized even during coastal flooding and extreme events by maintaining its crest elevation as low as possible. It is believed that this could partially be achieved by taming the waves back to towards the ocean, however, not by reflection as in the case of a vertical ...

Lagrangian Particle Method for Simulation of Wave Overtopping on a Vertical Seawall

Coastal Engineering Journal, 2005
A particle method, or a gridless Lagrangian method, shows the high performance in describing the complicated behavior of water surface with the fragmentation and coalescence of water.

WAVE OVERTOPPING AT VERTICAL WALLS IN SHALLOW WATER CONDITIONS: A PREDICTIVE FORMULA

Coastal Engineering Proceedings
The work examines the wave overtopping process of vertical seawalls with very shallow foreshores. The non- hydrostatic model SWASH is used as an exploratory tool to deepen our knowledge about this process.
