Accuracy of Cone-Beam Computed Tomography in Determining the Root Canal Morphology of Mandibular First Molars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Introduction: The aim of the present in vitro study was to compare the accuracy of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in determining root canal morphology of mandibular first molars in comparison with staining and clearing technique.

Analysis of the Internal Anatomy of Distal Root Canals of Mandibular Molars: A Micro‐Computed Tomography Study

open access: yesX-Ray Spectrometry, Volume 55, Issue 5, Page 712-720, September/October 2026.
ABSTRACT Detailed knowledge of the internal anatomy of the root canal system and its variations is essential for selecting appropriate endodontic treatment protocols. Micro‐computed tomography (micro‐CT) allows for nondestructive, high‐resolution three‐dimensional (3D) analysis of extracted teeth, enabling precise evaluation of root canal morphology ...

Characterisation of the Mesial Root and Middle Mesial Canal Morphology in Mandibular First Molars: An Ex Vivo Micro‐CT Study

open access: yesAustralian Endodontic Journal, Volume 52, Issue 2, Page 364-380, August 2026.
ABSTRACT This ex vivo study characterised the mesial root morphology of mandibular first molars with a middle mesial canal (MMC) using micro‐CT. Among 469 scanned molars, 42 (8.96%) presented an MMC. Morphological parameters analysed included canal configuration, chamber orifice features, dentine thickness, isthmus type, and aspect ratio.

A Stepwise Approach to Managing Bilateral Maxillary Sinus Tracts: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT This case report describes a rare presentation of bilateral intraoral sinus tracts of odontogenic origin associated with a maxillary right first molar (Universal #3). A key diagnostic challenge was differentiating an endodontic infection from vertical root fracture (VRF) in a previously treated tooth; no J‐shaped probing defect was detected ...

Variations of Root Canal Morphology in Permanent Anterior and Posterior Teeth Found in Indian Population: A Narrative Review

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dental Sciences
Atypical tooth or root anatomy should be identified as a variation when it is observed frequently in a particular community or ethnic group. The root canal morphology depends on demographic factors such as age, gender, and ethnicity.

Effect of Seed Position on Parental Plant of Kroenleinia grusonii (Hildm.) Lodé. and Echinocactus platyacanthus Link & Otto on Seed Germination at High Temperatures

open access: yesPlant Species Biology, Volume 41, Issue 4, July 2026.
Kroenleinia grusonii and Echinocactus platyacanthus are native and endemic to Mexico, both have ecological and economic importance and are endangered species. The position in which seeds develop on the parental plant can have effects on physical and physiological characteristics. Seed position on parental plant of Kroenleinia spp. and Echinocactus spp.

Root Morphology and Canal Configuration of First and Second Maxillary Molars in a Selected Iranian Population: A Cone-Beam Computed Tomography Evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Introduction: The aim of this investigation was to evaluate root canal morphology of maxillary first and second molars and also to assess the prevalence and morphology of the second mesiobuccal canal (MB2) in these teeth, using cone-beam computed ...

Enhancing the Quality of Single Cone Obturation Using Hydroxyapatite Precursor Grafted Nanocomplex for Dentine Conditioning: An In Vitro Study

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, Volume 59, Issue 1, Page 177-188, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim This study aimed to quantify the effect of chitosan‐hydroxyapatite precursor nanocomplexes (C‐HA) on void reduction in the root canal system and isthmus regions, characterise void distribution patterns and assess sealer‐dentin interface adaptation post‐conditioning.
