Investigation of surface discharges in insulation gases through synchronisation of improved electrical and fast enhanced-imaging techniques [PDF]
This thesis investigates the generation of discharge activity in the regions where gaseous and solid dielectrics meet with energised conductors, frequently referred to as triple points/junctions.

Computation of very fast transient overvoltages (VFTO) in a 1000 kV gas insulated substation
Very fast transient overvoltages (VFTO) generated in a gas insulated substation (GIS) during disconnector switching operations is one of the major concerns in insulation design of the GIS. Such over voltages can cause malfunctioning of the protection and control circuits in addition to initiating faults inside the gas insulated bus ducts of the ...

Analysis of very fast transient overvoltages (VFTO) from onsite measurements on 800 kV GIS
In IEC 60071-1 and 62271-102, there is neither standard voltage shape nor standard peak value for very fast transient overvoltages (VFTO). Previous work by other researchers had classified VFTO into two types. A new type was identified in this paper based on an onsite test on a commercially-operated 800 kV GIS.

Measurement of very fast transient overvoltages (VFTO) in a GIS module
Gas insulated substations (GIS) have found a wide range of acceptance in power system for their compactness, high reliability and freedom from periodic maintenance (large mean time between failures). This paper deals with the design and development of a capacitive voltage divider for measuring VFTO, as encountered in GIS.

There are some difficulties in using multi-transmission-line (MTL) model for wide band modeling of whole windings of the large power transformer. In this paper, the normalized MTL model is firstly derived, with which not only the difficulty of modeling windings with different turn-lengths using MTL can be solved, but also the model can be extended to ...
