Adjusting Cell‐Surface Interactions Through a Covalent Immobilization of Biomolecules
This review presents an overview of current and emerging immobilization techniques coupled with an in‐depth investigation of the underlying mechanisms governing the activity and stability of covalently immobilized biomolecules. The aim of this study is to serve as a guide for the development of long‐lasting biomedical coatings with versatile biological

Modelling the inflammatory process in atherosclerosis: a nonlinear renewal equation [PDF]
We present here a population structured model to describe the dynamics of macrophage cells. The model involves the interactions between modified LDL, monocytes/macrophages, cytokines and foam cells. The key assumption is that the individual macrophage dynamics depends on the amount of lipoproteins it has internalized.

By decreasing cholesterol and lipid raft levels in the plasma membrane, proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) boosts human epidermal growth factor receptor 1 and 3 (EGFR and HER3) activation, driving tumor growth and metastasis in triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC).

Serum lipoprotein accumulation in the livers of orotic acid-fed rats
This study provides confirmation of previous observations that showed that rats fed a diet containing 1% orotic acid for 7 days develop a fatty liver and that there is an inhibition of the secretion of low density lipoproteins without altering general ...

Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is the central enzyme in plasma triglyceride hydrolysis. In vitro studies have shown that LPL also can enhance lipoprotein uptake into cells via pathways that are independent of catalytic activity but require LPL as a molecular ...

Characterization of Chicken Portomicron Remnant and Very Low Density Lipoprotein Remnant
Portomicron remnant and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) remnant in chickens were prepared by the method using ultracentrifugation (d<1.019) following an in vitro incubation of portomicron or VLDL prepared from chicken plasma with chicken ...

Predictive associations between serum fatty acids and lipoproteins in healthy non-obese Norwegians: implications for cardiovascular health [PDF]
A battery of methods for multivariate data analysis has been used to assess the associations between concentrations of fatty acids (FAs) and lipoprotein subclasses and particle size in serum for a normolipidemic population of ethnic Norwegians living in ...
