Wireless, Deep‐Seeing Smart Pill: A NIR‐II Fluorescence Imaging Capsule Endoscope for Gastrointestinal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel near‐infrared‐II fluorescent imaging capsule endoscope that detects specific fluorescence signals above 900 nm enables highly sensitive, targeted imaging of gastrointestinal cancer tissue. This wirelessly powered and magnetically controlled “smart pill” achieves high sensitivity and deep tissue penetration, allowing precise, non‐invasive ...

Apnea, bradycardia and desaturation spells in premature infants: impact of a protocol for the duration of 'spell-free' observation on interprovider variability and readmission rates. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
ObjectiveTo study the impact of implementing a protocol to standardize the duration of observation in preterm infants with apnea/bradycardia/desaturation spells before hospital discharge on length of stay (LOS) and readmission rates.Study designA ...

Lactoferrin Deficiency During Lactation Causes Adult Obesity‐Related Metabolic Disease Through Persistent Adipose Dysfunction Driven by Impaired Adipocyte Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lactational lactoferrin deficiency exerts lasting effects on epididymal adipose tissue development from lactation into adulthood: it impairs adipocyte hyperplasia and induces pathological hypertrophy, resulting in lower body weight yet exacerbated metabolic dysfunction under a high‐fat diet in adulthood.

The efficacy and safety of fluconazole in preventing invasive fungal infection in very low birth weight infants: a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesItalian Journal of Pediatrics, 2023
This meta-analysis aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of fluconazole for the prevention of invasive fungal infections (IFI) in very low birth weight infants (VLBWI) and to provide a basis for the clinical use.

SIRT6‐Mediated Deacetylation of ATF3 Promotes Silica‐Induced Lung Fibrosis by Enhancing its Nuclear Import via Binding to Importin α

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SIRT6‐mediated ATF3 acetylation drives MGARP transcription and mitochondrial dysfunction in macrophages, promoting macrophage senescence and pulmonary fibrosis. Mechanistically, HSP70/Importin α competitively binds to ATF3, modulating its nuclear translocation.

Actual and Prescribed Energy and Protein Intakes for Very Low Birth Weight Infants: An Observational Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
poster abstractObjectives: To determine (1) whether prescribed and actual energy and protein intakes during the first two weeks of life met Ziegler’s estimated requirements for Very Low Birth Weight (VLBW) infants, (2) if actual energy during the first ...

Development of the preterm infant gut microbiome: a research priority. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The very low birth weight (VLBW) infant is at great risk for marked dysbiosis of the gut microbiome due to multiple factors, including physiological immaturity and prenatal/postnatal influences that disrupt the development of a normal gut flora. However,

Growth monitoring of very low-birth weight infants

open access: yesCurrent Medicine Research and Practice, 2012
Very low-birth weight (VLBW) infants suffer significant perinatal and neonatal morbidity. The survival of VLBW infants has improved over the past few decades.

Limited effects of intravenous paracetamol on patent ductus arteriosus in very low birth weight infants with contraindications for ibuprofen or after ibuprofen failure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Finding the optimal pharmacological treatment of a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in preterm neonates remains challenging. There is a growing interest in paracetamol as a new drug for PDA closure.

Combining Radiation‐Treated Tumor Vaccines With Mn‐MOF Nanoadjuvants to Amplify Radiation Induced Anti‐Tumor Immune Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy‐treated tumor membranes are integrated with Mn‐MOF nanoadjuvants to generate Mn@RM, a lymph node‐draining nanovaccine that delivers radiotherapy‐remodeled antigenic components. Mn@RM enhances dendritic cell activation, amplifies T cell‐mediated antitumor immunity, and synergizes with radiotherapy and PD‐1 blockade for combination cancer ...
