Sept8 controls the binding of vesicle‐associated membrane protein 2 to synaptophysin [PDF]
AbstractSeptins, a conserved family of GTP/GDP‐binding proteins, are present in organisms as diverse as yeast and mammals. We analyzed the distribution of five septins, Sept6, Sept7, Sept8, Sept9 and Sept11, in various rat tissues by western blot analyses and found all septins to be expressed in brain.

Vesicle-associated membrane protein 2 mediates trafficking of α5β1 integrin to the plasma membrane
Experimental Cell Research, 2010Integrins are major receptors for cell adhesion to the extracellular matrix (ECM). As transmembrane proteins, the levels of integrins at the plasma membrane or the cell surface are ultimately determined by the balance between two vesicle trafficking events: endocytosis of integrins at the plasma membrane and exocytosis of the vesicles that transport ...

Protein kinase D localizes in the Golgi and regulates protein transport from the Golgi to the plasma membrane. In the present study, we found that PKD3, a novel member of the PKD family, and its fluorescent protein fusions localized in the Golgi and in the vesicular structures that are in part marked by endosome markers.

Acid secretion by parietal cells involves secretagogue-dependent recycling of the H+-K+-ATPase. Proteins called soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptors (SNAREs) have been implicated as participants in membrane trafficking, docking, and fusing processes.

Exocytosis of eosinophil granule-derived mediators is thought to be an important effector response contributing to allergic inflammation. Secretion from many cell types has been shown to be dependent on the formation of a docking complex composed of soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein (SNAP) receptors (SNAREs) located on the ...

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), secreted by the enteroendocrine L cell, is an incretin hormone that potently stimulates insulin secretion. Although signalling pathways promoting GLP-1 release are well characterised, the mechanisms by which GLP-1-containing granules fuse to the L cell membrane are unknown.
