Vesico‐ureteral Reflux in Children
British Journal of Urology, 1977A total of 126 children with 193 refluxing renal units were treated for vesico-ureteral reflux during the period 1966-74. The grading of the cases into mild, moderate and severe reflux revealed renal scarring in 5, 22 and 28% of the three groups. Conservative treatment was used in 10% of the patients, surgery on the urethra in 25%, and reimplantation ...

We review the current problem of vesico-ureteral reflux, commenting upon the etiological factors and the physiopathology of the same. We describe the exploratory methods (analysis, urography, cystourethrography, cystoscopy) and assess the data obtained in order to establish the indication of medical or surgical treatment.

[Vesico-ureteral reflux in pediatrics].
Minerva pediatrica, 1998Vesico-ureteral reflux (VUR) is the most frequent uropathy involving 1-2% of children. Genetics, familiarity, race gender and age intervene in the pathogenesis of VUR. In particular, neonatal VUR seems to represent a specific entity. Different factors determine a renal damage due to RVU: direct action of VUR (back pression), urinary tract infection ...

Vesico-ureteral reflux (VUR) in patients with neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD) can either be due to reasons unrelated to NLUTD, like morphologic changes, or can develop as a secondary complication of NLUTD, e.g. due to elevated pressures during storage and/or voiding, or due to bladder wall fibrosis.
