How a Traveling Exhibition on Wasps Altered Public Perceptions

open access: yesCurator: The Museum Journal, Volume 69, Issue 3, Page 342-349, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Media portrays a caricature of the “evil” wasp (a flying insect), perpetuating fears developed at a young age or from individual negative experiences. Because wasps are critically important to nature and our agriculture, it is important to provide some form of education to lessen this fear.

Threats to Nature's Contributions to People Provided by Terrestrial Vertebrates Across Europe

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 32, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Species and ecosystem processes provide essential benefits to people, known as Nature's Contributions to People (NCP). However, we still lack a comprehensive understanding of NCP provided by terrestrial vertebrates on a macroecological scale, and of the threats they face. To address this, we built a comprehensive dataset that documents the

The Inference‐Forecast Gap in Belief Updating

open access: yesEconometrica, Volume 94, Issue 4, Page 1279-1312, July 2026.
Evidence from the laboratory and the field has uncovered both underreaction and overreaction to new information. We provide new experimental evidence on the underlying mechanisms of under‐ and overreaction by comparing how people make inferences and revise forecasts in the same information environment.

A new approach to the analysis of cooperation under the shadow of the future: Theory and experimental evidence

open access: yesQuantitative Economics, Volume 17, Issue 3, Page 827-857, July 2026.
The theory of infinitely repeated games may lack predictive power due to its insensitivity to, for example, changes in some game parameters, the timing of players' moves, and communication possibilities. We propose a new approach by studying an infinitely repeated prisoner's dilemma game and its variants where preferences for cooperation are ...

Multi‐Omics Analyses Elucidate the Venom Components of the Wasp Vespa mandarinia

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
The wasp Vespa mandarinia was widely reared in Yunnan province. The venom was responsible for their aggressive behavior. Tweety proteases, hyaluronidase, venom dipeptidyl peptidase 4, and phospholipase A1 and A2 isozyme were identified. In addition, organic heterocyclic compounds, organic acids, and derivatives were found.
