Additive‐Manufactured, Multifunctional Bioreactor Technology for Dynamic Culture of 3D Bioprinted Tissue Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
We introduce an additively manufactured bioreactor with a perfusion flow system and integrated temperature and pH sensors for skeletal muscle tissue biofabrication. The bioreactor's performance was evaluated by assessing the viability, spreading of the myoblast cells in a printed scaffold, and contraction of the isolated murine musculi interossei ...

Microneedles Mediated Delivery of Nanodiamonds for Quantum Sensing of Free Radicals in Skin Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Fluorescent nanodiamonds are nanoscale sensors capable of monitoring cellular stress responses. However, to function effectively, they must be delivered into cells or tissues. Here, we demonstrate their application in the skin by developing a dissolvable microneedle platform that dissolves after skin insertion, enabling the delivery of nanodiamonds ...

Deep‐Tissue Light Generation via Whispering Gallery Mode Lasing From a Commercial Nylon Fiber for Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A dyed nylon fiber is implemented inside the scattering phantom and skin tissue. The deep‐tissue light generation via whispering gallery mode lasing is demonstrated, achieving a depth of >50 times transport mean free path in scattering phantom and 3 mm beneath skin.

Patterned Screen‐Printing Process for Substrate‐Free and Scalable Hyaluronic Acid Microneedle Arrays

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A substrate‐free microneedle array comprising a hybrid hyaluronic acid ink was fabricated via a scalable screen‐printing process for flexible transdermal drug delivery. Defect‐free mold filling was achieved using a vacuum‐assisted jig and a delayed drying system, and the use of this versatile platform for multi‐drug patterning and ex vivo skin ...
