Subcubic graphs of large treewidth do not have the edge-Erdős-Pósa property [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
We show that subcubic graphs of treewidth at least $2500$ do not have the edge-Erd\H{o}s-P\'{o}sa property.

Observation of a Hard Correlation Gap in Quench-Condensed Ultrathin Beryllium [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Lett. 87 036801 (2001), 2000
We report on the tunneling density of states (DOS) in ultrathin and strongly disordered Be films quench-condensed at 20 K. Above 5 K, the DOS shows the well-known logarithmic anomaly at the Fermi level. Only in a narrow temperature range near 2 K is the DOS linearly dependent on energy, as predicted by Efros and Shklovskii.

An integral theorem for plurisubharmonic functions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
In this paper, we prove an integral theorem for Cegrell class $\mathcal{F}(f)$ and use this result to study the $\mathcal{F}$-equivalence relation.

Online Metro Origin-Destination Prediction via Heterogeneous Information Aggregation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Metro origin-destination prediction is a crucial yet challenging time-series analysis task in intelligent transportation systems, which aims to accurately forecast two specific types of cross-station ridership, i.e., Origin-Destination (OD) one and Destination-Origin (DO) one. However, complete OD matrices of previous time intervals can not be obtained

Density of States Prediction of Crystalline Materials via Prompt-guided Multi-Modal Transformer [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
The density of states (DOS) is a spectral property of crystalline materials, which provides fundamental insights into various characteristics of the materials. While previous works mainly focus on obtaining high-quality representations of crystalline materials for DOS prediction, we focus on predicting the DOS from the obtained representations by ...

Predicting Density of States via Multi-modal Transformer [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
The density of states (DOS) is a spectral property of materials, which provides fundamental insights on various characteristics of materials. In this paper, we propose a model to predict the DOS by reflecting the nature of DOS: DOS determines the general distribution of states as a function of energy.

The Black Holes do not exist - "Also Sprach Karl Schwarzschild" [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
According to the original theoretical analysis of 1916 by Karl Schwarzschild the black holes do not have a physical reality.

Resilient Controller Synthesis Against DoS Attacks for Vehicular Platooning in Spatial Domain [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
This paper proposes a vehicular platoon control approach under Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks and external disturbances. DoS attacks increase the service time on the communication network and cause additional transmission delays, which consequently increase the risk of rear-end collisions of vehicles in the platoon.

A Bonnet theorem for submanifolds into rotational hypersurfaces [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
In this work, we prove a version of the fundamental theorem of submanifolds to target manifolds with warped structure.

Do Language Models' Words Refer? [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
What do language models (LMs) do with language? Everyone agrees that they can produce sequences of (mostly) coherent strings of English. But do those sentences mean something, or are LMs simply babbling in a convincing simulacrum of language use? Here we will address one aspect of this broad question: whether LMs' words can refer, that is, achieve ...
