Vestibular dysfunction in Parkinson disease

Neurology, 1982
Symptoms and signs of postural instability are often present in patients with Parkinson disease (PD). Because vestibular dysfunction might contribute to the postural instability, we carried out bithermal caloric tests and electronystagmography in 36 patients with PD and 316 controls.

Genetic contribution to vestibular diseases

Journal of Neurology, 2018
Growing evidence supports the contribution of allelic variation to vestibular disorders. Heritability attributed to rare allelic variants is found in familial vestibular syndromes such as enlarged vestibular aqueduct syndrome or familial Meniere disease. However, the involvement of common allelic variants as key regulators of physiological processes in

Vestibular Recruitment in Meniere's Disease

Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1990
The aim of this study was to search for vestibular recruitment in a sample of patients with Meniere's disease. Recruitment was defined as an abnormal growth of response with increasing stimulus intensity. Twenty-nine patients were tested with sinusoidal rotation of three different magnitudes at four different frequencies. We also searched for auditory

Hereditary Familial Vestibular Degenerative Diseases

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2001
Identification of genes involved in hereditary vestibular disease is growing at a remarkable pace. Mutant mouse technology can be an important tool for understanding the biological mechanism of human vestibular diseases.

Vestibular Disease Unmasked by Hyperventilation

The Laryngoscope, 1998

Vestibular test results in patients with vestibular migraine and Meniere’s Disease

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 2023
Vestibular migraine (VM) and Meniere's Disease (MD) are episodic vestibular disorders, sometimes difficult to differentiate from each other on clinical grounds. To evaluate vestibular test results of the two groups that may help in the differential diagnosis.Twenty-two patients with VM, 21 patients with definite MD and 21 healthy volunteers (HC) were ...

Vestibular Investigations in Meniere's Disease

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1981
151 patients with unilateral Meniere's disease were investigated with a vestibular test battery in the interval between vertigo attacks, and the results were compared with those obtained in a control group. In 73.5% of the patients a caloric response reduction of the afflicted ear was observed.

Vestibular Schwannoma Mimicking Ménière's Disease

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 2000
We retrieved information on 128 patients with vestibular schwannoma (VS) and 243 patients with Ménière's disease (MD) from the database of the otoneurologic expert system (ONE). The patients filled in a questionnaire concerning their symptoms, earlier diseases, accidents and tobacco and alcohol use.

Cognitive functions in episodic vestibular disorders: Meniere’s disease and vestibular migraine

Journal of Vestibular Research, 2023
BACKGROUND: Cognitive deficits have been defined in patients with bilateral and unilateral vestibular loss. OBJECTIVE: To investigate cognitive functions in patients with episodic vestibular disorders. METHODS: Nineteen patients with Meniere’s disease (MD), 19 patients with vestibular migraine (VM) and 21 age and education matched healthy controls were

Vestibular Recruitment in Menibre's Disease

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1971
Patients with unilateral Meniere's disease were investigated with regard to vestibular recruitment. They were accelerated clockwise and counterclockwise respectively at l°, 2°, 4°, and 8°/sec2. After each acceleration, there was an interval of about 6 minutes at constant velocity. Latency times, crescendo times, and after-discharges were studied.
