Vestibular function outcomes after vestibular neurectomy in Meniere disease: Can vestibular neurectomy provide complete vestibular deafferentation?

Auris Nasus Larynx, 2010
Vestibular neurectomy is considered the reference treatment of incapacitating vertigo accompanying Meniere disease, with an efficiency rate of 85-95% in most literature reports. Vestibular nerve section for Ménière's disease

The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 1976
In summary: (i) the fact that VNS spares auditory function makes it preferable to labyrinthectomy. The Vestibular Aqueduct in Meniere's Disease

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1976
The vestibular aquaeduct was evaluated blindly in tomograms from patients with Meniere's disease or chronic otitis and from patients without ear disorders. The descending part of the aquaeduct was clearly visible in 95% of the patients without ear disease. In the two other groups, it was visible only in about 50%.

Cochleo-Vestibular Correlations in Meniere's Disease

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1979
The cochlear and vestibular functions were investigated in a sample of 36 patients with unilateral Meniere's disease. Caloric reactions and hearing thresholds were compared separately at several frequencies. A topodiagnostic relationship between the cochlear and vestibular function was discovered. Using four qualitative categories, a significantly high

Vestibular diagnosis in Menire's disease

Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 1976
Vestibular diagnosis of Menière's disease must be based on the results of an elaborate test battery. The latter should include a complete caloric test (stimulation with cold and warm water), carried out under nystagmographic control. Statistical analysis of caloric responses recorded in 100 normal test subjects by D.C.
