Vestibular Nerve in Meniere's Disease
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1980Biopsy specimens of vestibular nerves of 40 patients with severe Meniere's disease were studied by microscopy. In 17 patients, a translabyrinthine eighth nerve transection was done; in 23 patients, a middle fossa vestibular neurectomy was done. Many of the nerve fibers had thickened and deformed myelin coats; some were thinly myelinated fibers and some

Vestibular dysfunction in Parkinson disease
Neurology, 1982Symptoms and signs of postural instability are often present in patients with Parkinson disease (PD). Because vestibular dysfunction might contribute to the postural instability, we carried out bithermal caloric tests and electronystagmography in 36 patients with PD and 316 controls.

Vestibular Recruitment in Meniere's Disease
Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1990The aim of this study was to search for vestibular recruitment in a sample of patients with Meniere's disease. Recruitment was defined as an abnormal growth of response with increasing stimulus intensity. Twenty-nine patients were tested with sinusoidal rotation of three different magnitudes at four different frequencies. We also searched for auditory

Hereditary Familial Vestibular Degenerative Diseases
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2001Identification of genes involved in hereditary vestibular disease is growing at a remarkable pace. Mutant mouse technology can be an important tool for understanding the biological mechanism of human vestibular diseases.

Objectives: Vestibular schwannomas, also known as acoustic neuromas, are slow-growing tumors that may lead to asymmetric hearing loss, unilateral tinnitus, and vertigo. Population-based data are lacking regarding the incidence of vestibular schwannoma in

Vestibular Disease Unmasked by Hyperventilation
The Laryngoscope, 1998AbstractHyperventilation‐induced dizziness is often thought to be psychogenic, but its effects in the presence of known vestibular disease have not been adequately examined. In this study hyperventilation was tested in two models of vestibular disease.

Vestibular test results in patients with vestibular migraine and Meniere’s Disease
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 2023Vestibular migraine (VM) and Meniere's Disease (MD) are episodic vestibular disorders, sometimes difficult to differentiate from each other on clinical grounds. To evaluate vestibular test results of the two groups that may help in the differential diagnosis.Twenty-two patients with VM, 21 patients with definite MD and 21 healthy volunteers (HC) were ...

Vestibular Investigations in Meniere's Disease
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1981151 patients with unilateral Meniere's disease were investigated with a vestibular test battery in the interval between vertigo attacks, and the results were compared with those obtained in a control group. In 73.5% of the patients a caloric response reduction of the afflicted ear was observed.
